Chaulk leaves Alleghe Hockey...to return to Komets...

http://www.alleghehockey.com/news.asp

If you cant read that...LOL...here is the translation provided by Shutterbug on another site...

Colin Chaulk leaves Alleghe Hockey (23/12/2010)
The President of Annex tile Canadian Hockey Renato Rossi, Toronto announced that striker Colin Chaulk will leave the team red and white, "but reluctantly agree on the club and Chaulk agreed to rescind the contract that bound them."

Colin for personal reasons decided to go back to playing his former team, the Fort Wayne Komets of the IHL where he played since 2002, excluding the 2006/07 season and the current red and white shirt when he scored 3 goals and 11 assists in 18 games.

Rossi added: "Chaulk returns in the U.S. early next week and on behalf of the club I want to extend my best wishes for the future of his career. The company is exploring the market and will endeavor to find a worthy replacement for the Canadian."

1 rumor confirmed...now on to the others...

The sad but expected news.

To finish that statement...
Sad for me as a fan who wants this team to move forward.
Happy for me as an advertiser because the drive by casual fans who love seeing the same names on the jerseys will be happy to see him back. Happy casual fans by game programs and view other forms of advertising. And if Colin helps the Komets squeek into the playoffs that that is an extra game or two for my advertising buck.
So we'll see.... maybe it all works out for the good.

IMO Komets are lacking leadership and good quality centers. This is a step in right direction. As far as looking to the future goes, fine.. Go get a young center to learn from the best the Komets have had in a long time.

Bringing in young rookies to try to turn the team around will fail at this point. They will simply blend into the losing ways. Komets lack a few players with the "It" factor. Hard to find in a youngster.

I will add, I do like the ideas of looking to the future. However, it would be a much smoother transition if we can regain the winning culture that has followed the Komets in recent years. At least bring young blood into a team that is stable... Right now we are far from a stable place for a rookie to come learn.

Sorry Mr. Snufflupugus, but this news just made my day! I am one very happy Komets fan today! All I can say is welcome back Chaulker! He WILL make a difference on this team. He can provide the guidance and leadership that is currently missing. Chaulker knows how to get in his teammates faces and make them take responsibility for their actions. If they don't, he'll let 'em have it! Go ahead and slap that "C" on his jersey right now and have it ready by the time he gets here! Go K's!!!

IMO this is the best news the Komets and their fans could ask for. This team has lacked leadership and consistency all year. I would guess some of the other IHL players signed here for the chance to play with Chaulk as well as the Komets organization. With the exception of 2 or 3 players this is a relatively young team and everyone would benefit with his leadership. Now whether or not he can adjust to the CHL quickly is unknown. But his presence alone on the team should help this team hopefully to catch fire and be better. I hope he gets back in time to play next Wednesday to play against Mississippi. It would make an ordinary midweek crowd into close to a sellout and the place would be rockin. But it would be a better bet he plays New Years Eve night. Go Komets!!!

FYI-it appears Mac is on 45 day team suspension while they decide what to do about him...maybe a trade in the works or the end of a nice career.
Certainly someone who when released to play hockey had all the talents necessary to do so.

An interesting article I thought I would pass along from the Pro Hockey News.... Its titled:

Komets Fans, Shut up!

LOL, this is great!

My prediction is this guys email account will be full in the very near future... :)

Also, another article where a lawyer in Toronto submitted a plan to have a 12 year old girl's ice time limitted on his son's team... What a loser, another black eye for lawyers everywhere...

http://sports.yahoo.com/juniorhockey/blog/buzzing_the_net/post/Hockey-parent-draws-up-contract-to-limit-player-?urn=juniorhockey-299352

Maybe Mike in Toronto can lead a movement to have this guys business limited until he grows up and becomes a man....

BTW, the girl quit when she heard what this lawyer was trying to have done... Shame on the parents, coaches, league manager's and everyone involved for letting this progress as far as it has... Thanks to the FYC memeber who posted this and help bring this to more peoples attention...

What's the deal with Mac? You think he is back in town and will play when he can ?

Total bunk like the Chaulk rumor early on, or really really total bunk?

JR1....what an article on the kid's hockey....sadly, this sort of stuff happens every day in kid's sports of all kinds. It just does not make the papers since most of the parents are not stupid enough to put it in writing. I loved the quote that said it's as important to learn how to lose at this age as it is to win. So true....

mr. snufflupugus

Exactly what would Mac do to help this team? Talk about someone who doesn't have the skills to play in a no clutch and grab league?
They already have a cement head who just played the game of his life the other night. Mac would be a one man parade to the penalty box and nothing else.

I will continue to look forward and onward for solutions......

Mac is in Idaho.

BLB, the truly unfortunate situation in today's youth sports is that you have parents coaching teams and not coaches... I have been suggesting for the last couple years that prospective coaches need to be screened better. Make sure these people can actually coach and arent just there to make sure thier kid plays... Too many kids arent getting coached properly or being given the essential lessons like how you act when your team wins or loses, how to deal with not making a team, or dealing with adversity, or how to work harder for next season so you do get a trophy (trophies are meaningless these days, everybody gets one!), etc...

JR1
Sat, 12/25/2010 - 11:24am

Mac could help with crowd control, since he would have to sit in the stands for 10-15 games until his suspension was finished.... One less off duty cop to hire...lol

I believe the rumor was that Mac was in town talking to some attorney's and the speculation grew from there... Blake, are you saying he was never in town or that there never was any attempt to bring him back?

WHO

Sorry to hear about Mac and his problems....I truly liked is style of play when they would let him play hockey and not be a thug....I wish him well in his future endeavors.

Yes to both.

Suspension or not I don't think I would want mac back on the team for the simple reason that he isn't what this team lacks. Scoring and leadership. I think Chaulk will provide both but especially the leadership. Players will be accountable for the lack of effort they have shown at times this year.
