Tailing the Komets

Look out Larry!

I've convinced Hunter he wants Larry's job and not mine any more. Hunter is one of my heroes i

``Hunter Sosenheimer joins Wendy Bartle for this week's "Fans in the Stands" interview on the Komets Game of the Week. Hunter, one of three "Sosenheimer Boys", is well known my many Komets fans. He and his entire family are afflicted with a rare genetic disorder known as Arnold-Chiari malformation, a condition that affects the brain and brain stem and often requires surgery (sometimes several surgeries) to treat. Hunter will talk about the enduring friendships his family has formed with a number of Komets players, past and present, and some of the special team-related activities to which he has been treated. He will also discuss and share pictures of his recently redecorated bedroom, which puts the Komets "Hall of Fame" website to shame. Remember to tune in to Comcast 55 or Verizon Fios 25 on Wednesday, January 27 at 8 PM or Thursday, January 28 at 4 AM or Noon to find out more about this remarkable little boy and his love for the Fort Wayne Komets -- a love rivaled only by his boundless courage.''

I know Hunter wants my job, but I waited a long time to do it too. I don't want to be Jay Leno and give it up before I'm ready. I'll try not to make it as long of a tenure as Chaser but the way Hunter is tearing up his knowledge of the boys and his gift of gab, maybe he should set his sights on radio. I will support him either way. It just goes to show you what an impact the Komets have had on hockey fans for years and years. I was once in his shoes and get to live the dream every game.

That's a great idea, Larry. Hunter would be great on radio.

One of my favorite moments was actually when I asked him what kind of cake his mom made for Kevin Bertram, expecting him to say "Chocolate" or "Vanilla" or something like that. My goodness, that Heather is an artist! I guess I better stick to cookies.
