I'm glad to see that Quad City is working on putting a team together. I was kind of wondering how long it would take them to start announcing things. One giant question though. Didn't I read where Kalamzoo was Philadelphia's AA farm team. I know the article read "the IHL affiliate" of the Philadelphia Flyers but how many players does Philly have to go around? I believe that they promised Kalamazoo up to six players. They must have a ton of players to stock their own roster, the AHL roster, and help both Kalamazoo and Quad City. It just seems to me that it is an interesting development. Oh well, good for Quad City and I suppose it is good for the IHL also.

I'm kind of surprised the Komets don't have any NHL affiliation. Fort Wayne always has seemed to kind of be the leader in doing things like this but it looks like Quad Cities beat us out on this one. Philadelphia's logo looks a lot like the K's too. Could've been something there. Eh, I guess we can still be the affiliate for Pittsburgh since they are champions also.

It hasn't exactly worked out for the best over the last 20 years whenever the Komets have had affiliations with NHL teams. They'd prefer to control their own inventory, as it were.

I heard they owe money to NHL teams for guys like Kevin Weeks. But that is just rumor mill stuff.

I agree with the Frankes on that one. Affiliations cause as many headaches as they resolve. I'm happy with things just as they are. But considering that the fans in QC are used to affiliations, I'm glad they got one. Good for them.

Hockey Observer- You right about one thing. It's all lies and rumors. Kevin Weeks was and is a class individual. Super nice guy!

At least we are hearing news from Quad City. I could careless where they get their players. We can handle them. Now Flint needs to get their butts in gear. A new Comissioner may help out. That has got to be priority #1. Credibility in Flint might just be inpossible to get back if they don't get the heads out of you know where!!!

Isn't this all kind of funny...

First K-Zoo and Pickard back the Geographical FootPrint and Overall Cost argument of the IHL

then they bolt and pull one over on the IHL...

They Join the ECHL and say that their fans need the NHL franchise affiliation to give their team more credibility and actual NHL prospects which would attract advertising and lots more casual fans. Giving away the cost thing, bigtime...and giving away the natural rivals.

Now QC announces an NHL affiliation with Philadelphia, which ironically is one of K-Zoo's affiliations also....and QC now has the best of both worlds....cost, geographic footprint, natural rivals, and NHL affiliation.

Funny. Interesting. But mostly funny.

Good observations, Hit. I totally agree. Hope it bites Kzoo.

Hit-I am really proud of you. You had to put all that together than put it in print. You really expressed yourself very well. I am not being sarcastic. You said that really very well. All I can say is "Ditto"

I posted this same notion on FYC which is a larger IHL-wide plus ECHL-wide board, and they don't seem to like this observation too much.....in fact, the guy that runs the board said that K-Zoo left the IHL because they saw the inner-workings of the IHL and felt it important to bolt the league. And also that this QC development does not in anyway compare to K-Zoo and the ECHL......

I think he is full of....well, you can fill-in the blank. Too many people hate the Komets and the Frankes, and are easy to side with Pickard and K-Zoo. Just wait until this whole thing gets them nothing more in attendance in the long run, and gives them lots more cost.....then we will see who was right and who was wrong....

I hope that the IHL steals Toledo away in the next couple of years, and Cincy too.....then K-Zoo will be K-Screwed!!!

Go Komets!!! Go IHL!!!

Hit-You are looking at the "Heart" those other individuals are looking at the face. They only see what they want to see. They have not lived "IT"! There are your nay sayers, for sure. There are also some very good business people who have bought into the concept and believe in it. Personally I think we get a real good bang for our buck. We great hockey at affordable prices. Great individuals have played and our playing in the Fort. Lots of them still live here. That says loads about the city. Some "Nuts" are just harder to crack.

Are there any rumblings amongst those in the know of the Coliseum for a new entrance video for the K's this season? It's getting close enough I can start wondering about all the bells and whistles our team and arena provides us. Is there a new sponsor for the "Look A-Like" on the big board? I actually enjoyed that one. Is Icy going to return to being out as much as he was before the new video board arrived?? So many questions to be answered...

All of those answers are in Scott Sprott's head. I would be willing to bet if the ads have been sold everything will be back and a few new ones. Kind of gets you excited for sure.

The only one that annoys me is the Sprint comet or whatever that is. That one is turned up much louder than the others for some reason. I'd like an updated entrance video too. They definitely have to keep Welcome to the Jungle though. Even when I'm driving and hear that on the radio I feel like ramming the car next to me into the guardrail!

RunningKomet-There would be a lot of people who would like the volume turned down just a tad. You can try and get KometPA to listen to you. It is my experience that he just will not listen to me. Good Luck!

It's been my experience that most of the time it has little to do with KometsPA and more to do with sound levels in the building system. When it's too loud for some parts of the building, it's too soft in others. Or the Komets have one setting, but other tenants have another, usually louder setting. I'm not sure how much control the Komets have over the system.

RunningKomet

Sorry to be vague. I wasn't complaining about the sound in general, just for that one stupid Sprint commercial or symbol thing that makes the loud sudden noise, then flies off to the right. It looks like a comet or a shooting star or something. I've literally seen people jump in their seats from that stupid thing because they are startled. I wasn't trying to issue any blame to anyone.
When it comes to the other things, sound effects, things of that nature, I think it's pretty good. When it comes to Welcome to the Jungle, I say CRANK IT UP!!!

Blake the knob for the music is controled by KometPA. I am not sure about the other things. There have been times when we scream he turns it down. Those times are just before we go upstairs and do it ourselves or tell him we might throw him over the box. Just kidding Larry!

All complaints should be addressed to Dschebig at the memorial coliseum address. I bought one of those machines that you can hang upside down on, when I get it assembled I am only going to blog while inverted, all the blood will rush to my head and I will be really smart and have a lot of smart things to say.

Also i just tried the new machine at the gym, and feel sick after eating all those chocolate bars out of it.

Kometspa, can you turn the volume up for my seat, I can never hear anything.

I'm at ice level and I can hear the music just fine, it's the announcements that I have trouble with. Either that or I'm just getting old and my ears are going. I want to hush everyone around me when the scratches and officials are announced... but it doesn't work so well! :)

The sound system is constantly tinkered with by both the Coliseum and the other tenants. I can only do so much on my end. Night to night the sound can very due to changes in the system that I don't know about, size of the crowd and where they sit and even weather variables. The system was incorrectly setup in the first place and the speaker placement is the real problem. That's what happens when you use the low bid. The majority of the speakers should be above the scoreboard like most other major league facilities but for some reason here they were not. Some parts of the building get blown out where the sound settles (IE Dennis and the penalty box area), and some parts can't hear either the music or the pa. As for the Sprint sounder, that comes from the video control room when they show a replay and I never when that will show up. Hope that clears things up for you all. BTW, I'm still looking for a full time job. Now, can we play hockey yet?
