Tailing the Komets

May I suggest...

Since there's not much going on right now and I'm still tied up with football and tennis, can I suggest you check out a few websites for fun?

Most of them are linked on my blogroll to the left (which I need to update), but there's some very interesting stuff out there. Some of these I found linked to other sites.

Komets legends.

Old jerseys

Aric and Jay's

Komets 50th anniversary team

Chad Ryan always has something interesting to look at

Justin's JG blog.

Komets on Wikipedia.

Komets on facebook.

Shutterbug's photo site.

Komet Kuarters

WENDY'S PHOTO SITE

Old Central Hockey League site

Anybody else got any good Komets sites to suggest?

I did so much work on that Wikipedia website a few years back. It's a lot of hassle to keep the team updated yearly. If there is anyone who is interested in helping either with adding a few clear pictures...write ups I would love to see something on Icy. By all means go for it...if you need help/have the information and want me to post it contact me soilflaw@aol.com and I can get it up.

You may want to check the "New" IHL website. It looks like they have a good start with updateing it.

You didn't mention my Komet photo site, Blake. Okay, so I'm no pro, but I do the best I can with what I have to work with. And then there is the twisted humor as only I can provide it. Not to mention that I'm paying for the thing, so people might as well check it out. Sets going back to the 2007-08 season are on the right with the most recent on the top. Pictures can be viewed individually or in slideshows.

I like your captions, Wendy...you had one in there last season of Hodgman that had me cracking up....can't recall what it was now, but it was pretty funny. Did you get the "stripping" incident we discussed with Zehr and Gravelle? I can't remember seeing any shots of that, and any captions...it's probably for the best....my memory has been forever burned, pictures would only serve to remind me in a more permanent way!

And you know....I gotta say, you guys over here seem more upbeat than the other blog. Not sure why that would be, because it's a lot of the same people. Different vibe over here, and I like it!! I'm looking forward to the season when there's more actual hockey to discuss....off-season is hard, but this has been fun so far!

Am I doing something wrong or do both the Komets on Wikipedia and the Komets on Facebook links go to the Wikipedia page?

Thanks for adding the link, Blake. No need for "sorry", but I did start it hoping it would become a resource for Komets fans.

RK: No, you're not doing anything wrong (but then, how much can go wrong with "point and click"?). I'm getting the same thing on that Facebook link.

BLB: Aw thanks. The Hodgman one you are referring to showed him learning forward next the boards in front of the Guy Dupuis sign. Guy was holding himself roughly the same way in the ad, so I made a crack about Hodgman using the sign for camouflage. :D Regarding the Zehr incident, no, I didn't make it to that game. I saw it on the "Game of the Week" though, and it was just as bizarre as everyone said. I was hoping it would wind up on YouTube. I wanted to send the link to Puck Daddy. They would have made it a featured video clip for sure.

Yeah, people are nicer around here. Like I said, Blake rules with an iron fist. ;) Actually, I'm only partially joking. I've seen him fly off the handle over replies that were only a little questionable (IMO). If Justin put his foot down like Blake does, things would be a lot different over there, too.

Musky signs Big Snake...Look out, he hasn't played hockey in two years. http://www.mlive.com/lumberjacks/index.ssf/2009/08/muskegon_lumberjacks_sign_toug.html I don't know if I would call him a first or even second line forward though.

Great to see Big Snake again. Got lots of songs about snakes and worms. They all apply.

Just remember he is not wired to tight. His light is on there just isn't always somebody home.
He is a brick short of a full load. Lots more but I'll stop. You all get my point.
Now we just need to here from Flint and Quad City. It's getting to the point where no news is really not looking very good.

That's because I'm just meaner, Blueline Baby! Nah, actually, everybody kind of polices themselves. I'm just along for the ride. Back to football.

Big Snake a Furyjack......sweet!!! I will highlight all the Fury Jack dates on the Komet schedule for sure, just like I highlighted all the Rockford dates when he played there. He is fun to watch because you never know what kind of hell might break loose out there. Good thing we have some guys willing to drop them, it might take an ice-full of guys to get that nut cracked. I hope we sign Legault too, just for Big Snake.

By the way, it is the guys like Big Snake, MacMillan, Woods, etc. that will make the IHL a fan favorite again. Drama on the ice is always huge for attendance.

Fights are fun to watch as long as the K's have more pucks in the net than the other guys. Fights or not, I usually leave in a bad mood if the good guys lose in the Jungle.

I feel like a ...I never checked to be sure, but I always thought Big Snake was a nickname for the guy....that's his real name? Wow. He does look a bit of a loose cannon!! Should be an awesome season. A little more fun. I, to am worried about Flint now, though....but now that I've said it out loud, I'm sure they'll make me look like a fool by signing a whole benchload of players tomorrow. I hope so, anyway!

You never know about "Head Cases"... Sometimes they come to play the game. Sometimes they just show up to fight. Other times they are only there in their bodies, no head! I guy like Gomez could be real gun shy after his court experience. It might take him a few games or half a season to feel like he can go again. Big Snake reminds you a lot of Toporoski. I know one guy that has to be real concerned, Brad Jones. It will be very interesting to see how he handles the suspentions. My pens writes 5 min. majors and game misconducts as well as Gross misconducts real easy. It should be a very interesting season in the IHL. It might seem like Elmyria is back in the league. That was a fun time with all of their "Nuts" including the coach!

FLINT has a coach-- Jason Mazzetti (I think I spelled that right) They are alive up there.

Yeah, I know what you mean BLB. I wasn't there to see him play, so I was thinking it was just a nickname, too. Of course that begs the question what he... um... got it for. LOL. Is he part Native American or something? He doesn't especially look it, but that doesn't mean anything. C'mon, somebody's got to know what the deal is with a name like that. But yeah, it should be one heck of a season.

Wendy he is from the Siksika Nation, Alberta Canada. No feathers, bow and arrows just fists.
He can, when he wants to, play the game. Hope that helps you out!

I wanted him in a Komet jersey. I'd trade Shaf & Stayzer for him

Tue, 08/04/2009 - 5:38pm

mightbite- I don't think you would be happy with Big Snake. He can be a very loose cannon. I am not sure how he would fit in our locker room. He spells team with the letter I. We know both Shaf and Stayzer come to play every minute of every game. Big Snake like to take time off during the game. Not Good! There may be those who disagree with me and that is OK. Just my opinion.

Here is word out of Flint, you can read it all here...
http://www.mlive.com/generals/index.ssf/2009/08/flint_generals_hire_jason_muzz.html

They also named their GM. This whole Gernerals thing has turned into a total joke. Some of the quotes in that article where just plain head scratching. If Franke did float them a line of credit I would, in the words of Gordon Ramsey, "Shut it Down Now"!
Blake I would love to hear your take on this now that everything is out, because I am sure that is not the GM and Coach you were told would be running that club..

Blueline Baby
Tue, 08/04/2009 - 7:40pm

mightbite, I would not trade Shaf for hardly anyone....he is very classy and a great player....maybe not a fighter like you like 'em (me too, I'll admit!), but we are loaded with those now, so we're ok there. Plus, it's Shaf's last season here most likely, so I'll take him while I can.

Dschebig, I have to agree with you on the "loose cannon" thing....they are fun to watch....when they are on someone else's team. I had some of my most fun baiting Jason Tapp last season to see if he would blow up....of course I felt bad when he did and that lady ended up getting hurt....and we all like getting into Laaarrryyy's head, don't we? Not sure he'd qualify as a loose cannon, exactly, but he is a goalie, after all (no offense intended, just they are a different breed....I would know....mine is sort of one at heart still...), and he gets a little angry at us at times.

BTW, the little defenseman made house league tonight!!! Yeah!! Let the finance-draining begin in earnest! Woo-hoo!

I don't even know where to start or what to say about that Flint article. This whole thing is screwy at best. I said about a month ago or whenever we heard that Prince was taking this team over that I wondered if these guys were used car salesmen...??? I guess I was right.....what do you know? Just a hunch....and it was right.

I saw a comment there that this means Brendan Savage might come back? How so?
