Tailing the Komets

McWhinney likely to play

I just got off the phone with Pat Bingham, and this is what he had to say about the possibility of Dan McWhinney getting some PT this weekend:

``I would think so. When you look at the schedule, that's sort of
what's in your mind. Everything is subject to change and you make gameday decisions, but
I think this will be Dan's opportunity see some action this weekend.''

Guys as I said before I think the Komets have confidence in Dan based on how he is practicing and what he did in preseason. I think by this time last year they were on their 4th backup goalie.
Not a hint this year of them even looking at anyone else.

Greg you are correct on Belfour. John Casey also as well as quite a few minor league goalies. They also breed Zen Masters there as Phil Jackson is an alumni.

I would have stuck him in there against Bloomington.

Speaking for Belfour, I still remember that center ice slap shot he let in from Keith Miller that turned that entire playoff series around (I'd have to look up the year '92?)

Miller was just putting it on net from the boards on teh komet bench side. He turned to go to the bench, heard the crowd yell and I am sure he never saw it go in.

It went right between the pads, 5 hole.

I think that the K's will have to be on their toes all weekend. We've had so many times before when we've gone against a losing team and we've gotten our heads handed to us on a platter. They should never take anything for granted. I think the QC game tonight will be really rough. The QC team that has been playing, isn't like QC at all. We all know how home games can pump you up. I do have the utmost confidence in the Komets that they can pull off all 3 games, especially this year. I just want them to keep clear heads and think of these teams as being some of the best. Getting cocky always hurts you. GO KOMETS!!!

Skate, that would have been in 1989. It always amazes me how the Komets used to beat up on these great NHL goalies when they were in the minors. Turco, Hasek, Belfour.

One of my fondest memories was that 10-2 beating they put on Indy when they scored 5 each on Hurme and Lamothe. Neither were NHL stars by any means but anytime I saw Hurme in the nets for Ottawa or Lamothe for the Wings I always remembered that night.
