Please explain to me why "professional" players refuse to play the body in a contact sport? I see that way too much out of certain players and it really bothers me...Blake they must have read your breakdown today and notice they have a better record and everything is "A" OK...just kidding

Well the K's salvaged a point out of tonights game and played a decent 3rd period they got what the deserved tonight as I thought Bloomington out played them for the better part of the hockey game.

Did you notice their was no love between Danko and Varone tonight? Looks like they never played on the same team before. The K's were outplayed tonight, Friday should be a great game, battle for 2nd place.

Two unassisted to start the game... Can I answer the question posed in the other topic about turning the corner? No. The inconsistency is obviously still here despite beating the bottom-feeders of the league a few times in a row. Inconsistency won't win any championships either. Wait, since I'm being realistic, am I being turned on, Komets91? No, it's nothing like that. I'd just like to see consistent full-game effort from the team we support. I go into every game fired up and wanting a win, no matter who the Komets are playing... I just wish our players could all say the same thing. I guess no need to dwell on the past, on to the next one. GO KOMETS!

I think the question answered itself tonight.

Two weeks ago you guys came off of a mid week game and crushed us. I heard from our guys on Sunday they feel better coming into Friday. We'll see.....

Hey, whatever turns you on. ;)

It was all the refs fault..

Woods takes another dumb penalty. (Refs fault)

Danko rips Varone to the ice on a breakaway, then roughs and crosschecks him. (Refs fault)

Heck, its even the refs fault that our defensemen stood around all night.

"Tired of missing calls?" That never gets old....

This is great.....

1ST STAR: Drouin, P.C. (FWK)
2ND STAR: Shafranov, Konstantin (FWK)
3RD STAR: Chaulk, Colin (FWK)

Zach Pearson of the PT played a great game, had 2 goals including the game winner... and he doesn't appear in the 3 stars?

I'm not trying to bash the team at all, but I'm not about to act like everything is alright and not talk about "issues" with the team. Isn't that what blogging is about?

Go Hawks: If Larry doesn't have another of his meltdowns due to mental weakness, you could be very correct and the Komets had better watch out. I don't have his stats for the Jungle, but it seems like PH would be better off going back to the old strategy they used before when Larry was afraid to play here of having him ride the pine and putting your 2nd goalie in each time you visited the Fort.

What was the deal with Danko and Varone? Danko was all over Varone all night. Does Danko have a beef against him for some reason? I didn't see Varone do anything to warrant such abuse all night. And before everyone jumps on me, I am not a Varone lover by any means! I've just never seen Danko go after anybody like that before.

Danko has been playing a lot better lately, and a lot more aggressive. I think he's really improved over last year.

Danko was a -3 last night.. Maybe he was just taking his frustration out on Varone?

Danko v Varone might better be answered by someone who could hear the verbal exchanges between the two. Don't know anything, just wondering if maybe Rick was chirping a bit to get Dako off his game and into the box.

Another question about Larry, does anyone really think he decides which games he gets to play and which games he doesn't? Wouldn't that be like Boucher saying, "Gee coach, I don't want to play in Port Huron, but Muskegon is OK. How about putting Haun in for those games?"

Yeah, I'm sure Al or any coach would buy that. I think any goalie who said that would be gone. The concept goes against the competitiveness needed to play the game.

Adam Russo has just come back, I think he's back, from a tournament in Italy. I don't plan on seeing anyone but Larry in there tomorrow. Larry didn't meltdown 2 weeks ago, it was a global issue. If you stand there and let the other team skate where ever they like they're going to score and often.

Go Hawks: I'll agree he wasn't getting any help that night, I was just trying to get you going a bit. I remember talking to those around me that night and saying how several of those goals, especially early, weren't his fault.

Steve: I'm not sure how that would work. You're right though, I doubt he asked not to be put in. I don't know too many athletes at any level who don't want to be in the game.

I talked to Larry last Sunday and he was actually looking forward to the game tomorrow. The team as a whole feel sick about 2 weeks ago and know they need to be playing better.

Go Hawks: Am I wrong in assuming you live either in or around PH? My parents (who know nothing about hockey other than the fact that Fort Wayne has a team called the Komets) vacationed in PH last summer. They had nothing but good things to say about the city and how much of a great time they had up there.

No, I don't think Larry said, "Don't play me in Fort Wayne." I figured all along that it was the coach's decision, for one reason or another. He was the one who felt the other goalie had a better chance. Whether that was because the crowd so enjoys taunting Larry or not, who knows.

Of the seven games so far this season Larry has played in 5 with a 4-1 record against us.

Besides Larry I have fond memories of hazing two other goalies.

My first date with my wife was of course a Komet game. We were playing Saginaw and the Komets blew them out, the fans chanting Eddie, Eddie, Eddie at their goalie. That goalie was Ed Belfour.

Come forward a bit, a New Years eve game, the opposing goalie was John Blue. The fans were having a ball yelling "sieve, sieve" at him. My wife (still just dating at the time) got into the spirit of it after a bit of encouragement from me and joined in.

When the game was over I said to her, "Here's a couple I would like you to meet (turning to the couple sitting behind us), Mr. & Mrs. Blue, this is my wife Rita." John's parents were in to see the game and spend New Years Eve with him (the team stayed in Fort Wayne that night). My wife about died of embarrassment after having razzed their son so bad. She still reminds me of it.
