I talked to a buddy of Jeff Zehr and he has not received an offer, I thought he was their main player. FYI he played JR. with him .

But supposedly there are things going on behind the scenes?

I would think that player offers would have to be out there by now or you run the risk of finding the bottom of the barrel of talent....and I know there are more players this off-season looking for teams to play for....but can Flint go another season winning 20 or so games and boring the 200 fans that show-up? Something big and exciting has to happen there to get that base charged up again. Half-arsed efforts aren't gonna cut it there anymore, at least I wouldn't think.

who cares what flint is doing?? the league has added a couple of teams with supposed good ownership and possibly flint has a new owner ready to go so im not gonna worry about them. yes this is a blog to throw around ideas and things but my whole point is that some of you act like the world is comming to an end because not all the i's are dotted and all the t's arent crossed. im saying to chill and stop being so negative about things. so flint might be late and might have someplayer problems, so what? if they fold, we got evansville to take their place. i told you all a couple years ago to dig in and follow the new ihl business module and that within a few years we would have teams with good ownership begging to get in the league. time will tell if im right or wrong, i just dont get those who are always doom and gloom instead of celebrating the good news. gee, dayton and quad cities, gee evansville and gee, blake says flint will be solid! those are things to celebrate instead of worrying that zehr hasnt been offered a contract yet..maybe the new owner is smart and doesnt want to offer that girlyman another contract!! haha lol

Ok Chuckitt....

Evansville is 2 years away.

Quad City....good.

Dayton....good.

This is just people having a conversation about the league....and Flint is apart of that discussion...I like you alot Chuckitt....but you might need to follow your own wishes of Chilling. No one is gloom and doom....we are just curious and talking...no harm no foul.

Flint is nowhere close to being on solid ground....economy, mad and disgruntled fans, and a complete mess of a situation over the past few years there. This league needs all of its teams to remain solid and strong.

People including myself (loudly) have blown the trumpets of celebration for bringing in QC and Dayton. I have defended this IHL tooth and nail. I hate what Kalamazoo and its Commish did over the past year or so to undermine the IHL. But to sit and ignore that Flint is looking bleak right now, which it might improve with a miracle I guess, well, it is funny to me that people poo poo the idea of talking about it.

blake has told us all is ok but some come as close to calling him a liar on here. thats what i dont understand. questions and discussions yes but questioning blake with all his abilities and contacts i call just outright doom and gloom, not serious discussion. and thats the way it is, july 17th, 2009! rip

I never said Blake was a liar. Never said any of his contacts or abilities were question. So I am not sure where that came from? Blake has given more news on any of this stuff than anyone.

My only contention is that the environment in Flint is a mess right now. As it has been for years. George Steinbrenner couldn't buy the Flint Generals at this point and do much with that team this year.

No one faults Blake for reporting what he is told....I don't think that he can be held accountable for someone saying "We will know more about Flint in the next 7-10 days" and then a month later we still know the same as we did 2 months ago. Not his fault. Not that it is anyone's fault for that matter. It just leads to everyone wondering how stable or unstable that situation really is. Then the article that quotes Mr Prince and Mr Roe comes to the surface and it just muddies the waters even more. It is a mess. Does anyone think it is not?

The league will survive, I hope, with or without Flint. The league needs to make it thru another year and grow Dayton and QC into stability and then continue to add a couple of more markets. This league is on the right track. We are in good hands.

Watch-out for the Bloomington Praire Thunder....they are going to be tough this year.

Good reference, chuckitt. I'm a major history dork so seeing him pass away and thinking of all the things he experienced and saw through his 92 years is mind boggling. Rest in Peace, indeed.

I'm not losing any sleep over it. Okay, so losing Flint would negate the growth the league made this year, but other than that, no big deal. All I was trying to do was help Blake to understand why 1) no one was calling him a liar and 2) why it is completely reasonable for fans to be suspicious about the Flint situation. But I should have known better. No one ever takes kindly to being "helped" to understand something, especially when they actually say, "I have a hard time understanding..." So nevermind. If someone told Blake all of this, it HAS to be true, right? I mean whoever heard of someone hedging on the truth or speaking out of turn when talking to a journalist?

And yes, Cronkite was a great man. I don't think anyone will ever fill his anchor chair. Journalism is just too different today, and that makes me sad. :(

Wendy, from your comments above I'm thinking you're possibly an educator? If so, I feel your pain. As far as Cronkite, I wish I'd been able to see more of his work, other than on tapes and YouTube...

Like it or not Zehr is one of this leagues best players, so is littlejohn=who gave Bertram a beat-down last year. Check out Dan Henderson's KO last week at UFC100.

hit , wasnt refering to you. read the posts and you see someone heataly beat down on blake and even blake came on to defend himself. thats what i was refering to! as far as cronkite, he was the last of the true anchor journalists. what we have today are news readers and pretty people trying to become celebrities. is there any other reason that the big network news divisions are money drains and no one even watches the eveing news anymore. when i was a kid, that was the highlight of the day after super to sit down and watch the evening news and see what was happening in the world. today you can turn on cnn or fox and see everything live and then see it a hundred times again.

An educator? That would be depressing! LOL. Nah, I'm just someone who studied journalism for 3 years and is still keenly interested in the industry. I highly recommend episode #8 of the "From the Earth to the Moon" series (entitled: "We Interrupt This Program"). That's the one that dealt with Apollo 13, but since the Tom Hanks movie had already been made, it foccusses instead on events here on earth, especially within the the news media. It does an excellent job highlighting the way things were starting to change even then.

Not depressing, Wendy, just too much for most to handle. Pretty big challenge these days. Some hockey news would be nice, regardless of who reports it...

No, no... Depressing that anyone would actually be so desperate as to entrust the young, impressionable minds of their children to ME!

There should be some news of some sort this week. So... How about that Hossa? Saying "It's great to be in a hockey town" upon arriving in Chicago. Oh man, there is a guy who just doesn't know when to quit. LOL.

This will go over like a deuce in the punch bowl with Chuckitt and Blake and others....but I am hearing out of Flint that there will be a press conference out of Flint this week, and that Flint is done.

If this comes true....the Franke quote that it is 100% Flint will be back this coming season just swirled down the hole.

Don't shoot the messenger.

RunningKomet
Mon, 07/20/2009 - 12:17am

Time will tell... In this corner, the 100% Franke guarantee. In the other, Hit Somebody!!!'s Flint contact. Somebody has to be right, somebody has to be wrong. The suspense grows!

I'm glad I have no contacts so I can't get myself into these positions. Allows me to ride the coat tails with everyone else of the right reports :)

Like sands in the hourglass, so are the days of the IHL's Flint..........

I personally dont see the Generals going dark for the year. They mean too much to the league and the Icehawks as a close rival... From what I am hearing its the red tape from the Perani Groups mess that is holding things up and the new stronger ownership group is waiting till all thier ducks are in a row before announcing anything....

Flint stories = BORING. We have the best reporter and reporting with Blake. I'll trust his judgement and wait until he tells us all the TRUTH. With Flint "Whatever will be will be!"

RunningKomet
Mon, 07/20/2009 - 9:00am

But he's already told us the TRUTH about Flint, Dschebig. That's why it is entertaining how it keeps coming up. I agree though, Boring. Until (or if) we hear that everything we've been told is out the window and Flint folds and will not play this season, then why talk about it when it may not ever happen.

Mightbite: What's the deal with Woods since you have the contact with him? The word was he was going to decide by last week? Was he too busy with Three Rivers Festival to get that hammered out?? Is he not sure if he wants to play for Fort Wayne? If that's the case, do we really want him? Or is it contractual issues that's holding things up?

chuckitt
Mon, 07/20/2009 - 9:40am

if fflint folds it would probably be a last minute decision. since things are taking long time it must be that they are trying to get things in place and like in all business, last second decisions can always change the best laid plans. i hope they stay but it wont be that devistating if they fold.
