Canadiens: Well said and very correct.

If he did have a broken collarbone, what would be the benefit of putting him on the 14-day IR which does not come off the salary cap or the roster?

Question what does the 14 day IR give a club if he could just be labled as a healthy scratch? He still counts against the cap. Is it an insurance isse to help compensate for his salary? I know the 14 day IR was put into use this yes to give clubs a shorter IR stay, but I don't understand it's value?

So even assuming that they don't want to release someone for fear of upsetting fans, you're telling me that they can't force someone to retire? Yeah, riiiiiiiiight. Happens all the time in the real world. We don't want you hear, but we're going to let you save face by retiring. Otherwise, we can make the rest of your time here a living h***. They can get rid of anyone they want at any time. Personally, I think it's P.C.'s 21 goals and 62 points that are keeping him on the team. But that's just me.

Maybe Blake should have named the article "The Things We Think and Do Not Say". Make it a mission statement. As for me, I would never admonish anyone for telling the truth.

14-day must not count against the cap:

Member Clubs are allowed one (1) fourteen (14) day, three (3) thirty (30) day, two (2) forty-five (45) day and two (2) sixty (60) day IR spots. Players on the 14-day IR will count towards the active roster, where as players on the 30-day, 45-day and 60-day IR will not count towards the active roster.

Players with a season ending injury may be placed on the Season Ending IR. Players who are designated to have a season ending injury may not be activated at any time during that regular season or playoff season.

75% of one P.C. Drouin is worth more than 100% of some that have been waived. I respect honesty. I don't always like to hear the truth because sometimes I can't handle the truth. This isn't one of those times.

See I was under the impression that the 14 day IR did count against the cap. I believe you are some other did a stroy of the problems Muskegon was having with injurires early this year and was running out of bodies and could not sign anyone because they had a play on the 14 day IR and prevented them from signing someone. I may be wrong on that but I thought I read that the 14 day IR was not something teams really wanted to use because it counted against the active roster and the cap.

I did so, too, but if it counts against the cap, what's the point of it? There is none.

Watch it, Blake. Now that Wendy is a tv reporter, she's re-naming your articles. Are there any re-writes in the works??

Sgriffith: I'm glad you asked because I remember reading that somewhere too and thought I may just be getting old. Glad that isn't the case. Thanks for the explanation again, Blake.

What? PC has 21 goals and 62 points? He is so dogging it....let's keep Chwedoruk over him, for sure. He has WAY better production than PC, on PC's worst days. Unless my math is wrong, and we all know I am horrible at that subject, among others.....

Been too busy at my job to check in for a few days...The truth, not an attempt at humor.

As I read the other headlines about a shortened season in 2010-2011 I hope that's what PC was talking about. Like to give him the benefit of the doubt there that he was campaigning for that, possibly knowing it was being discussed.

I'll admit a strong bias. I've played baseball most of my life, coached Wildcat Baseball for 8 years, coached baseball at a high school in Colorado and college ball at Indiana Tech. I've certainly been around athletes most of my life.

At the first exhibition game of the season with my seven year old son, we both picked up on Schrock right away and hoped that he made the team. Didn't know he was a fighter, but you could tell he worked hard all the time. I've always done much better as a coach with a team of less talented hustle people than a 75% effort team of talent. Maybe that's more on me as a coach than anything else.

Of course a player can't play at 100% all the time, but they can give 100% of what they have that day. Great posts above about that.

I think this is specific to PC on this team. People talk about Bert, but he still is a great positional defensemen. Guy has clearly lost a step or more this year, but plays the angles and has enough veteran moxie to contribute on the ice. (I'm glad to see others on the PP and see him as our second or third line defensemen.) He still has much to offer. As do most of our other vets.

Leo Thomas is another great example...great talent...when harnessed and put into playing game in and game out. I heard he was quite the cancer in the lockerroom in other places. He's been fine here in Fort Wayne...even dropping the gloves when an opposing player fired a puck into our bench.

I see none of that in PC. He has a great slapshot, but won't do any of the little things (dig in the corners, stand up for a teammate, etc) that I'd expect of someone with an A on their sweater. Huckalo deserves that back, injuries or not. To have PC be acknowledged as one of the leaders of this team misses the mark for me.

Been fun reading all these comments...
