I just caught up on my "reading" and am surprised by the hostility on the blog. I know that we are all fans and each has a right to express their opinion as long as it is done in a tactful manner.

So.....I am going to provide some "happy" thoughts.

I am "happy" that the K's didn't get derailed after Friday's loss. They came back with two shutouts ( I think I would keep using Reiter since he's so hot) ! Remember what Al Sims said about finding out about his team and their streak by the outcome of the Saturday-Sunday games? Looks like they did OK, huh?

I am "happy" that even with the Quad City loss the K's still won 3 out of 4 games this week!

I am "happy" that the roster seems to be its healthiest in a long, long time.

I am "happy" with all the additions the Franke's have made in order to turn this program around. The verbal sparring I have read on the blog regarding Mirasty, Apod, and even Musselwhite just proves the quality of the roster as it stands today. We knew that tough choices were going to be made. I am "happy" I don't have to make the decisions on a game per game basis. I like Mirasty. I think he plays a vital part of the "team".

Yet saying that, I'm not sure who to sit. If you've noticed, the last three games have only produced two goals in each. The decision is like walking on a tightrope where you could fall off by going too far each way. Do you play the "skill" player in order to enhance the scoring ability of the team, or do you play the "enforcer" in order to create more space on the ice for the skill players? I don't have the answer.

I am "happy" that Blake provides a place for us to communicate and share thoughts. I'm not sure why he thinks what he considers negative posts would put a damper on the number of hits. Geez, he just posted awhile back about 100,000 hits in a month.

So....lets get a little more effective on the powerplay. Lets keep up the winning and maybe we could get another defenseman in here. ( Playing with only six on the roster may come back to haunt us ). Heck, if we got another defenseman then another forward would have to sit, wouldn't they?

Oh... and yes. I almost forgot. "Happy" Valentines Day!!

P.S. Blake, wasn't that a nice post?

There is no extra player or new player.

As for Mirasty's ice time, Al put him on the ice inside the last two minutes in Dayton Satuday night. He has not reported being unhappy to any of the Komets' coaches or management.

Couple of things I've noticed. He doesn't carry the puck at all, getting rid of it quickly, which is a good thing. He also seems to be very conscious defensively, making sure he stays up high in the zone and getting in the way when he can.

Question Blake, when you quote Chaulker shouldn't it be spelled "centre" instead of "center"? :-)

Good post Alan... It's a nice problem to have and I also wouldn't want to be the one deciding who to play and who not to on a game by game basis. But that's OK, in Al we have one of the best decision makers around.

I think that Mirasty is doing exactly what he was intended to do. Over the four games this weekend, and yes I was at all 4, There was not a single cheap shot taken against the Komets. If you recall the last few games against the teams we played those teams took liberties against our more skilled players. that doesnt happen when they see someone that can smash them across the ice on the bench or not. On Saturday, after OC went down, Mirasty played a regular shift, was it the ideal situation? probably not. He would have had either a goal or assist against Dayton the other night had it not been for Nurato knocking the goal off the moorings as the puck went into their net. I say lets see who can move him from in front of the net. put your stick on the ice and block the goalies vision. I would bet there are very few who would be able to or want to move him. I have yet to see him as a liability on the ice and for one am super glad we have him here.

Just tried to do some season ticket exchanges for Sunday and was told my unused 200 level tickets (as for any ticket) is only good for a free 600 level seat. Whose brilliant idea was that?

Dave, I been talking about that since I was told. In fact franke told me when paying for my ST. he said it would be the same as before :(

Dave, at the beginning of the season that was a major topic of discussion one here. Yes, they can only be exchanged for 600 level tickets. A lot of people upset but appearently not enough to cause them to change it back. Maybe next season.

We use to bring my grandson with exchange tickets but can't now unless my wife or I want to sit up there. I don't like the change in policy but it's their money so they can do what they want. I was really upset that we weren't notified until after paying for out tickets, although I would have still bought them.

I think that The Komet's have turned the corner, Goaltending has come around scoreing has to become a focus. Defense has improved and "nasty" has impressed Still needs more ice time to get in game shape. Looking like we're going to move up in the standings. SO LETS GO KOMETS!!!!
