Tailing the Komets

Much better defense

That was great team defense tonight as the Komets shut out Bloomington 3-0. Coach Al Sims mixed up his defensive pairings and it seemed to help a great deal. Brian Boulay, Jay Holladay and Brandon Warner in particular played good games on the blue line. Tim Haun did a great job in net, controlling his rebounds and allowing his defensemen to clear the puck.

Trivia question: There have now been three goaltenders who got shutouts in their first games as a Komet. Who are they? Some hints: They were not Reno Zanier, Chuck Adamson or Kevin St. Pierre. One is very obvious and the second one you should all remember quite easily.

The Komets also were much more physical tonight right from the opening faceoff, and it wasn't just the third line, though they certainly got their share. How about Sean O'Connor? He was all over the place nailing players.

Kevin Reiter had a shutout to start last season I do believe. Haun would make two. I am not sure about the third.....
