Good...because my son asks every single game why he wears yellow socks, and no answer has satisfied him yet...lol

That's too bad about Flint. I mean, we all saw it coming, but it's still sad.

I hope they do well in the playoffs - the *team* deserves it. I would love to see the K's matched up with them in the end - hard to tell who would win, and I'd be happy for them if they did.

And thanks for the scoop on the yellow socks - they're sort of mesmerizing against the black and orange...

I would say the Generals are skating their last games here in the Play-Off's...Also Dayton fired Marks today.

I'm not sure the Generals are done yet.

That makes sense since it sounds like the K's meeting didnt go very well with the ECHL and the deal with the CHL seems to be cooling as it sits.... They may need to keep the Gens around; but dont see how Flint supports 2 teams up there...

Gang, I'm with Blake. The Generals have balanced scoring, real good goaltending, experience, and maybe most important than all of that; an "us against the world attitude".

They have nothing to lose. They can play real "loose" because they're not supposed to win. The advantageous role of the underdog.

This is not an accident that they are here. They played very well down the stretch.

I would never root against the K's, but I wouldn't have any problem at all cheering against Muskegon.

If Muskegon loses either one of the first two games at home I'll bet that Muskegon will get so "tight" that you wouldn't be able to pull a needle out of their a** with a tractor!

Anyone who doesnt realize that Flint is a solid team at this point in the season and very dangerous has either not seen a game since January or have had thier head in the sand. The very reason why I was pulling for Bloomington this past weekend... Now I'm hoping for a grueling OT laden 7 game series between the Jacks and Gens that way if the K's make it to the finals whatever team they face are good and tenderized...

I think that is kind of what happened to Musky last year after their series with PH they had very little gas in the tank.

I was wondering about the yellow socks myself...

Open note to the powers-that-be at Fort Wayne Newspapers... please get rid of the roaring dinosaur banner ad! So annoying. How am I supposed to sneak onto the blog at work with that roar giving me away? Geez... LOL

I hope Flint isn't propped up for another year. How many of thier players would return under the same "management structure"? You'd think guys like Smolinski have better things to do with their time than play minor league hockey for free.

I agree JM. I am tired of this farce. Why in the world the thinking is that "IHL, yes we can, we will just prop up a team or 2 or 3 or 4 and we will have our own league for the Komets to play in. Who cares if the cities we prop up actually have ownership, or fans, or equipment, or rent payments, or insurance, etc." At what cost do we continue this charade? Seriously. It is an honest question to be asked. And I know that some people get PO'd when anyone asks it.

I have heard the same things that JR mentions. There was a CHL deal on the table for combining remaining IHL teams into that league, that what I heard was soured by the Komets in particular. Not totally sure on specifics, just a rumor that multiple people have communicated.

Also heard the samething about the ECHL....that things could be worked out there, but something to do with the Komets holding that process up as well??? That is what multiple people are talking about around the hockey world.

Just telling you what is being heard in places around hockey. Maybe some particular people in Fort Wayne might know more and might shed light on this.

It is not my money, or my team or business, but isn't the IHL idea losing it's luster, or what is left of it?

Evansville is a big NO! They can't get the funding or interest to expand their ice rink there for seating to be in a higher league, and they are building a new arena that the ECHL and CHL and USHL is targeting.

Chicago is well out of the picture for the IHL.

So the league hinges on propping up the Generals...where Junior NAHL is also going to be......

How is this a good thing for us in Fort Wayne with our Komets and for the league, IHL???

I am baffled.

Go Komets, However.

Back to the regular scheduled program.....sorry, don't kill me.

I cant believe Dayton let Marks go.... Heck of a good coach that always had his guys ready to play and play hard.

I wonder if Marks wanted out?

JR
Fri, 04/23/2010 - 8:51pm

It didnt seem like it JM when reading articles the last few weeks of this season where he talked about getting a good young core to bring back for next season... No idea tho...

Is it possible that there is something new developing for next year in Dayton Hockey and the new owners decided to go a different direction to prepare for the new course???

Or is it a sign that the Gems won't have a team next season?

I am sure that Marks leaving has to be some sort of clue into the future. I saw in the comment section of the Dayton Article about Marks being let-go that someone with information claims that there is big news coming very soon that will explain this move.....

Guess we will have to wait and see?
