The Indianapolis International Airport board on Friday reaffirmed their plan not to rename the airport after Col. Harvey Weir Cook, an aviator in both world wars.
Instead, the road leading to the new terminal building and the terminal itself will be named after the colonel, 6News' Julie Pursley reported.
Guess that's about all we can expect for a hometown hero in the age of globalization. How about the Paul Baer Snack Bar in the Art Smith Terminal of Fort Wayne International Airport?

Just a couple of questions about airport names....
Back when Weir Cook was called Weir Cook, there was an airport on the road between Indianapolis and Noblesville, fairly close to Conner Prairie, that was called "Indianapolis Airport". I think it was an FBO, but I don't know.
Anyhow, did they change the name of Indianapolis Airport when they renamed Weir Cook?
And when they changed the name from Smith Field to Baer Field, they renamed the FBO north of town to Smith Field. What was the name used for the FBO before that?
