Tailing the Komets

News from Friday

The Komets just picked up forward Daniel Goneau from the hospital in Quad City and are on their way home. He's out indefinitely with a broken cheekbone suffered when he was hit in the face with a shot halfway through the first period. Komets trainer Shawn Dundon said Goneau will meet with an ear-nose-and throat specialist early next week and may need surgery.

The Komets also played with only five defensemen because Mike Dombkiewicz had to sit out with a sore back.

"I saw good things from a lot of guys,'' Komets coach Pat Bingham said. "That was a total team win with the guys playing the quintessential road game. Everybody who dressed contributed tonight. There was a lot of sacrificing to make plays.''

More later when I get done with football stuff.

Did Chaser miss Goneau's injury altogether or wasn't I listening? I don't remember hearing him say anything about it.

I never heard anything either Rick, and I listened to the whole game. Shock to me this morning.

There is not much communication between team and press box/announcer during these games, especially road games where Bob is alone.

I think you make a good point, Tony, but I wish he would pick up on a winger from a top line being out of the game for an extended period and not returning to the game.

I agree with you Rick. I just wish he had a spotter with him even if it was someone not on the mic.
I was listening to the game as well and the funny thing was I never noticed Bob not calling his name.
Gheesh you guys want to talk about bad officiating, the Edmonton Dallas game last night....as Craig MacTavish said..."retarted" They waived off the tying goal with under 10 seconds to go because of a phantom hand pass. Mick McGeough who goes into convulsions waving his hands around anytime he makes a call screwed up another. You know I don't rag officials and I could have cared less who won that game because I am not a fan of either team but he made a farce out of that game.

And I spelled "retarted" the same way the Edmonton papers quoted him. LOL

I was at the game and I missed it.

I must say that I was disipointed with the team. Every time they got the lead it looked like they just shut down and tried to play keep away.

Kiyaga is a rookie and Gabrielson isnt thats why he is playing. We have five rookies counting Bozoian who is on suspension. We have to play 4 of them. Kelly Miller left us! We didnt just let him leave. Its not like we waived him or traded him. And if i remember correctly he cant come back for like 45 days even if we called him to play due to the way we suspended him. I think that Gabrielson should play over a few guys out there but then again im not the coach. Great to win even in a shootout. We will have to see how they adjust to missing Goneau.
