Here is a guy I thought had as much chance as Andy Townsend did to make the NHL (though I think Andy had more speed) but before you know it he had almost 200 games under him.
Congratulations to him. It seems like he has worked hard climbing the coaching ranks.
Next...Andre Roy will take the place of Colin Campbell as the NHL Czar Of Discipline?

Todd Reirden was a MUCH better player than Townsend. Remember Reirden played in thr IHL when it was AAA. Colin Campbell was no saint on the ice either .

I don't know... I always thought all Reirden did was stand like a statue at the blue line. Sure he was in position most of the time but he seemed painfully slow and it made it look like he didn't hustle.
Townsend hustled his butt off and made himself from a bad AA player to an average one.
The comparison wasn't so much in Reirden to Townsend but I would not have expected either of them to make it in the NHL.
But really, I am happy for Reirden. I am sure he is a decent guy and he did what he needed to in order to get into the NHL and has now clearly worked his butt off to move up as a coach. So this promotion is clearly well deserved.

Signing Frankie D. is a great decision. No need for Warner. Use some remaining salary cap money for a bit of muscle who can skate.
