No all-star game here next year

Komets president Michael Franke said he was very impressed with the way Rapid City hosted the Central Hockey League All-Star Game a few weeks ago. That doesn't mean Fort Wayne is interested in hosting the game yet.

``We told them we are not interested in the all-star game for next year,'' Franke said. ``We have enough going on with our 60th anniversary next year that we didn't want to take that on. I still would like to see the ECHL and CHL have an all-star game.''

I don't think the players would play hard even in a league vs. league all-star game so I have no interest watching it. Unless you give the winning team a bonus or a winner-take-all format, there's no way to expect the players to give their best effort. I'm watching last night's AHL All-Star Game from Hershey this afternoon, and the players are skating straight up, no hustle, no defense and everyone in the crowd looks bored to death. I'd rather just have a night off than have to cover that again.

instead of a PeeWee "game" between periods, we should have a "oldie" FW vs Indy or FW vs Toledo or FW vs K-zoo "game"....bet that would bring the LOUD fans back just a thought

Good luck getting enough players here for a 5-10 minute game

Agree GM, and it's more fun when those guys play longer. Bring in the old refs and all.

I would rather see the old timers too. The skill competitions are fun to watch (and do) but the all star games? Nah.........
