Opening Arguments

No kidding

Probably more honest than he intended to be:

Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) says Democrats are "trying on every front to increase the role of government."

And pretty much succeeding.

I'll give Barney props for being upfront about everything. He never tries to hide what he's in favor of. I'm just amazed there are enough morons in his state to keep re-electing him.

Well, then again it IS Massachusetts. What was I thinking?

I realize the popular view is that Republicans favor less government and liberals favor more, but doesn't appear to be the case.
The difference seems to be which part of the government ought to be larger or smaller. Modern conservatives spend more on the military and liberals spend more on social programs. Overall, I don't see a lot of difference.
The only modern president to operate with a no budget deficit, after all, was Clinton - and the economy boomed.
Reagan and George W. both cut taxes, especially for the wealthy, but simultaneously increased military spending. Huge deficits, not surprisingly, resulted. The economy suffered.
Considering what Obama inherited, it is too early to judge his economics, but this recession will soon beome his if he doesn't do something quickly. Getting us out of Iraq, as promised, would be a big start. But I'm not holding my breath.
Whatever you think of Barney Frank's views, you have to admit he's a straight talker and a tough guy.

Well, he's talker alright, but he sure ain't straight.

Tough? Like an obstinate child.

(1 : perversely adhering to an opinion, purpose, or course in spite of reason, arguments, or persuasion )

He's a career politician that ranks right up there in the top tier of people who have most damaged this country. A truly loathsome human being with absolutely no redeeming qualities, except perhaps to the pet shops that sell gerbils.

Sorry about "beatin' around the bush" on that one, I should learn to be more straightforward.
