Tailing the Komets

Is no news good news

According to Komets president Michael Franke, last week's Central Hockey League meetings in Gilbert, Ariz., ``went very, very well,'' but there's nothing he can announce from them.

"I think this is probably going to take a coupel of weeks to get everything finalized," Franke said. "This is not something you can announce in pieces. There's nothing to report except the process is moving along nicely."

The meetings are continuing by conference call today and will resume at the IHL meetings in Las Vegas from June 21-23.

"I would assume that sometime between now and then there will be some kind of announcement made, and finalization of everything would come at that meeting,'' Franke said. "There's a lot of stuff that needs to be done."

Current listing is .20, historical back to March I think is.17. Last offer was 5/03 for 5000 shares @ .15. Asked on the 5000 was .30 so no sale. On 3/30 700 shares were purchased @ .17

Maybe we should form a pool to buy up some shares, "Blake's Blog Pool" or something, everyone through in a few bucks and see what happens.

Heck, we can elect Blake to administer it, hockey season is over for now so he probably has lot's of time on his hands.. :-)

Manitoba Moose of the AHL need a coach....
Canucks GM says they are looking at names of minor league coaches out there who are not on the traditional radar....
There is this coach in Fort Wayne who has had some recent success......lots of experience ....... hmmmmmmm

Just saying... if he isn't at least on that radar, something is VERY wrong.

If I remember right it tanked at the beginning of the recession, I think there is room to move. I'd start rolling on the pass line and push my winnings for a while.

I felt like the article that was linked to (don't know about any others) read a lot like an opinion piece. It was difficult to tell how much (if any) inside information the person writing it had. So yeah, I think the fans know about much from it as they have known all along. That being said, I do get the feeling that there have been more snags than they are leading us to believe. Just a hunch, but there it is. But I wouldn't worry about it. About the only thing I think we can all be sure of is that there will be Komet hockey next fall in one form or another.

JR, I also read that but it was posted on a hockey blog or forum if I recall correctly. I've seen nothing to support that in their filings with the SEC or any available stories on line. Their last 8-K was filed 4/14 and another is due out soon because their fiscal year ended 5/31.

On 3/14 they filed an 8-K announcing agreements with an investment banking firm and a financial services consulting firm. Part of the agreement with the investment banking company includes a percentage of money from public offerings. If the sale of their stock were suspended then there wouldn't be any public offerings so to me it wouldn't make sense for the banking firm to agree to that unless the suspension was due to something like a pending merger (none announced that I know of).

I don't understand what it means to suspend sale of stock unless it's the SEC saying no one can buy or sell it? As far as I know a company doesn't "suspend" sale of stock, it just chooses not to issue more or offer shares held by the company which is normal anyway. They would have no say so if John Doe owns 5000 shares and decides to put 2500 of those up for sale and Harry Smith decides to make an offer. On the other hand I could be way out in left field on this..........

Article on the QC owner being sued for using illegal funds to purchase Mallards: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/quad-city-mallards-owner-chris-lencheski-and-wife-sharon-lencheski-face-additional-legal-action-arising-from-alleged-fraud-95768914.html

Don't read it, might be rumor......stable franchise in IHL that was purchased illegally, but it's going to court to hammer out details, probably nothing.......GO K'S!!!!!!

Chaulker- Of everything you have posted this one has the most serious implications. You do not mess with the Feds. I am surprised the Feds had time to investigate with all the porn charges flying about them. Keep us posted on that one. Very interesting!

I haven't really posted anything as far as articles, but I have no problem keeping it up to date as to what happens.

I think the Quad City thing was something that was mentioned last summer during the time they were starting the Mallards operations and everyone pretty much thought it was much ado about nothing. I know I read this samething last summer and Lachenski said it would not affect the buying of his hockey team....period.

Anyone else recall this?

Did the QC owner purchase ducks illegally or team members illegally? Either way, it just goes to show you you should not be buying ducks or people....LOL....

And wow....I have had my stock buying lesson for the day. I feel like I should be changing my portfolio now....:) That would be funnier if I had money in one, probably, but it's all tied up in the kid's college fund and his current hockey playing. I better start something soon for me!

Dschebig: The Quad City dustup is a civil lawsuit being contested in a New York state court. Not a criminal matter and no federal involvement...yet

The little I've read about the whole Lechenski lawsuit is that some numbers were added twice (one side says fraudulently the other mistakenly and thats for the courts to decide) that the purchasing companies accountants missed and yet had to have signed off on for the sale to go thru, right?.... This was for a company in New York that must have been sports related because they are saying that the Lechenski's violated a non compete clause by purchasing the Mallards franchise....

Ron & JR- Thanks! The SEC is the Feds, I appreciate the information as I am sure others on here do. I am not real sure what the SEC have to do with a civil law suit. We may have mixed the two things up by accident. That can happen real easy on here or any other blog.
