Komets coach Pat Bingham said this afternoon he's not sure if and when the defenseman from Hershey will arrive. In fact, he's moving ahead and planning as if the player is not going to arrive.
"We're working with what we've got to get them as ready as possible for Saturday's game,'' Bingham said. "We can't worry about who is not here, and you can't rely on one player too much, anyway. We'll try to help everyone we have get better and go from there.''
The Komets have an informal agreement with Hershey where the Bears said they would send Fort Wayne one of their extra defensemen. The Bears currently have nine defensemen on the roster.
The deal was essentially set up as a favor to long-time Hershey player and current Komets' player/assistant coach Bruce Richardson.
Bingham said no decisions have been made yet regarding Saturday's lineup. It's likely those decisions won't be made until Saturday's pre-game skate.
The Komets are asking fans to get to their seats earlier than normal for a 7:30 p.m. faceoff for extended pregame ceremonies.

this is pretty cool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYaTVaYaP-c
Looks pretty tame to me.
That was nice.
I haven't heard too much about Martinson trying to change goalies and basically stalling to get his players more rest? Wouldn't you call that bad hockey ethics? Maybe even an unsportsmanlike should of been called? I have never seen a coach pull that one. Might have to jump over to a hogs blog and see if I can stir up some talk.
This one was much better. LOL.

P.A. guy should have played "I can't drive 55.''
Stalling to give your players rest is just a smart move if you can get away with it. Proving that a player isn't really hurt is tough for an official to call a penalty on. How many times do you think goaltenders fake an equipment issue late in the game to give thier team a quick rest? Stall tactics are done in all sports, it is just part of the game.
Attempting to replace your goalie with a 3-2 or 4-2 deficit late in the game seems a little strange and you really don't see that often if not ever. NFL you get charged a time-out when a player fakes an injury.
The same Mallards that will be coming to the Coli on Saturday. I hope a brawl breaks out just to make all of the do-gooders cringe!
might be the best hockey fight ever?

All I have to say is Macintyre is an idiot. He waited til 7-0 to start something. Cement head.
Of course it sounds like Richardson got kind of riled up at the end of the Bloomington game. So I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.
Tasker vs. Senn is a classic. No doubt.
The announcer in the Pascal Morency/Trevor Baker fight in an idiot. I was sitting right beside the bench and had a perfect view of the fight. Morency was landing MANY of his punches that the Bloomington announced claimed he was missing. Great fight by Morency

The Bloomington announcer might be a homer? Gasp! Bob Chase has never broadcast a fight the Komets have lost.
hershey sounds like a great orginization to do work with hu?
Great article today Blake. I like the idea of reconizing a defenseman. You're idea about the shoot-outs though has already been taken. The NHL has adopted that rule where the home team gets to decided to shoot first or not. I think the UHL will go wiht that next year.
You say no home team coach would pick to shoot 2nd....so why not just change it to the home team shoots 1st?
I like having to allow for someone to be different.
Thats because you're a liberal. =)
Hershey just recieved their 10th dman John Erskine from Washington. So who knows mabye they'll send someone over to us.
