Here's what we know so far: The Komets are in the process of acquiring forward Noah Whyte from Port Huron for cash, pending league approval, which they have to have before making any announcement. Whyte, 24, is 6-foot, 185 pounds and has two goals and eight points in 11 games this season with Port Huron after being traded from Quad City earlier. He has six goals and 16 points and 68 PIMs in 41 games total this season. He is not a veteran or a rookie.

Summerfield released, and Whyte picked up. Downright, absolutely ridiculous. That's all I'm going to say.
Good luck, Summerfield!! Fort Wayne loved you (in all of the 8 games we saw you)! I wish he could've gotten more ice time!

Well we all saw the Summerfield release coming. Would have been great to see him play more. Hopefully he lands a spot on another team and gets more ice time then he was given here. From what I hear, he was a great guy off the ice. Now to change the subject back to on the ice...I think Whyte offers more than Summerfield did. Noah Whyte from what I've seen of him is a decent overall player offensively/deffensively that handles the puck ok. Nothing big stands out in my mind on him though. Does anyone else remember how he played in the few games we played against him this year?
Umm, if not a veteran or a rookie, exactly what is he?
What I remember of Whyte was that he was a hard worker in the corners and seemed to play with a lil bite.....time will tell if he will help.
Great Pickup? 6 foot 185 pounds and stats that would put him on a 4th or 5th line. Sounds Familiar?
All you have to do on this Whyte guy is look at his stats. I don't understand why we brought him here? 16 points in 41 games? What is so intriguing about this guy?
Summerfield got no shot at all. How can people say anything negative about Summerfield as all he did when he played his 2-3 shifts in eight games was hustle his butt off and make things happen. He also was a very respectable guy as if people can remember the first game he was here was on a Sunday night after a horrible loss and he skated with the fans and even shook hands and thanked everyone for coming to the game.
Why do we move guys around so much? We never give anyone a chance and then replace them with the same thing. Is there anything to this Blake? Are we trying to set an all-time record for transactions this year or something. Do you have any numbers for us on the number of guys that have been on the team this year? I would bet that it is in or near the 40's.
Make an impact trade, or keep things as they are at this point. Stop bringing in guys that are no different than the ones we keep waiving.
Now we have one more winger to add to the "score once every 8 games" rotation. You never quite know when this will come in handy.
Sorry to see Summerfield have to go. "Wait till you see this guy. He's a real energy guy." I'm glad he got to display that, from the stands. Who are our rookies now?
The uhl transaction page has this guy listed as a rookie???? And all I would say if I were to talk to him is to not accept the #22....its seems to be jinxed this year....
#22 stands for 2 shifts and less than 8 games, and waived. Good Luck to our new 5th line forward! Justin Cohn reported that the Komets say he will play center. That means center of section 225, somewhere next to Jaram, Patten, and Ken Boone (wonder where that guy is? he was lost in the crowd).
At one point in time i wrote that we should keep jeff Worlton, And alot a bloggers said if we are not going to play him its a waste to keep him.well folks thats just what they are doing.Whos to know what we might find.
Now that Summerfield has been released and Whyte is now a K, the question is who sits. Is Frawley the odd man out? Or is he safe being a rookie? Does Carpentier or Hukalo sit to make room for Whyte. I am going to go back a few months on a release the K's made when they let Worlton go. With us just having 5 defenseman, Worlton could have been put on the blueline to add depth. I am not saying he was a great D man, but he did fill the role all last year when we had injuries and could have been that guy this year when we desperately need a 6 defenseman. Oh how hindsight is always 20/20. You have to scratch your head at some of the moves the K's have made. Some good and some bad IMO. This transaction is one you scratch your head. How does this move help our hockey team? I agree Whyte is a 3rd line player and maybe he will show some grit, I hope, but unless we are looking to package him with another player for the "Blockbuster" trade then I am not sure this really helps the K's. I also go back to the Sellars fiasco. We are not willing to take a gamble on him at a position we need so badly and loose out to Danbury. I know he had a questionable knee, but we truly do not know how bad it really was and at the time that is gamble IMO we needed to take. Blake don't you have to wonder or even question this move when logic says you need a defenseman more than a forward? I know Whyte brings a little more experience than Summerfield, but didn't we bring him in because we were concerned about how many rookies we had in the mix? Now that he is gone, I would think we are back into the market of looking for that extra rookie for a security blanket. Now I am really confused..Help

Justin Cohn answered my question about the number of guys we have had on this team this year officially. The answer is......40! On the nose. 40 different guys. Can you guys even fully grasp that?
I think the Frankes have done a great job with the Komet Franchise and I am not knocking them, but 40 guys? I think it would serve them much better next year to have a better plan in the off-season and do their homework earlier than turning more than half of the season into a training camp like this year.
I agree but you also have to understand with the number of guys coming back from last years team I am sure they would have never thought they be going through a season like we have. They really did not have to many spots to recruit for. When we started like we did I guess you could say we were caught with our pants down. I am sure when this year is over they will do a better job of evaluating the roster top to bottom before they make offers to guys to come back next year. I believe we had something like 13 returners from last years club, I might be wrong but I am sure that is close.
How is it getting caught with your pants down when you bring back 12 guys, and the first three guys you sign over the summer are Guy (an upgrade), Mark Smith (at the time a good replacement for Venedam) and Galbraith to provide some more toughness??????
That's 15 very solid players out of 19 for a roster. C'mon be realistic and realize how easy it is to look back. At the time, they needed more beef and one more scorer, but that's a pretty solid lineup for September and October.
Yes Blake I am not bashing the K's, I'm just saying the K's did not have a lot of spots to fill with such a strong core of players coming back. I'm sure they already had in mind some of the guys they did bring in.
Check out Mike Wiggins stats. Providing a little offense for Roanoke. +/- not very good but look at his team. Now that was a great trade our Team Franke made. We needed that defenseman. Wait who was that? Maybe they were impressed by the name "KENNY".
