Tailing the Komets

Notes on Game 3

Moving Chaulk to the point of the power play was a GREAT wrinkle for Game 3... Sean O'Connor leads the team with 19 shots, five more than anyone else... Komets have out-scored Kalamazoo 6-0 in the second periods... Maybe Nick Boucher wouldn't have needed it, but Sebastian Laplante did a fantastic job of getting in Boucher's ear immediately after Saturday's game and making sure he stayed calm... The pairing of Keith Rodger and Rod Aldoff are plus-3 so far, which is impressive considering how much the Wings are going after the rookie... Leo Thomas is about two inches from really busting loose with some goals... Because it's not life or death, P.C. Drouin's cast probably won't come off until Friday... Kalamazoo leading scorer Glenn Detulleo has no points so far in large part thanks to Guy Dupuis and Danko Mironovic... Justin Hodgman and Rick Varone have done an excellent job enticing power plays. Hodgman has earned four and Varone three so far... Fort Wayne's rookies have four goals, Kalamazoo's two so far... Nick Boucher has stopped 131 of 136 shots against him. He made some sick saves early in the first period... Fort Wayne is dominating the faceoffs... Fort Wayne has out-scored Kalamazoo 5-2 on power-play goals and just as importantly, has not allowed a short-handed goal.
