Tailing the Komets

Notes on Game 5, part 1

If you haven't heard, Komets won 4-1... How about those posters?... Guy Dupuis suffered a broken right hand when he was slashed on his last shift... Hope everybody remembers to cancel their hotel reservations in Muskegon... The Lumberjacks have lost seven games in a row and nine of the last 10 Jim Hawthorne has been the referee... There probably won't be a full-fledged parade, but there will likely be something before Tuesday's fan party... Give Danko Mironovic all the credit in the world for taking on Robin Bouchard in front... Was there any doubt on the MVP?... There were three times as many people trying to get into the Komets locker room this year... How good was Kevin Armstrong?... More to come.

How do people try to get in with the barriers and brownies there? :S Quite frankly, last year I didn't even know people could stand outside the locker room area. I was still in the stadium and just heard this roar of "Hodg-y, Hodg-y, Hodg-y" and had no idea where it was coming from.

Sorry to hear about Guy. Good thing it is officially the off-season now. And no... No doubt about MVP at all.

Between Boucher and Armstrong, I had a great night watching goaltending.

We had two of the estimated four Muskegon fans* sitting in front of us, and they were a real class act. This was their first trip to the coliseum, and once they picked their jaws up from the floor they said, "Why aren't you guys in the AHL?" They had plenty of good things to say about our players (especially Boucher), and they joined us for cheers and high-fives when the final buzzer sounded. Gracious when losing? That's sportsmanship.

Coincidentally, I was sprayed with more beer by the "hangers on" than I was by the players. In any case, it was a lot of fun, and I made a few nice pictures before P.C. blasted me right square in the face with a shot of champagne that coated my lens ... got the video cam too ... and after I wiped the lens off a few minutes later, he got me again.

I'm leaving the MC now (at 4:24 a.m.) and I hope I don't get pulled over. Haven't been drinking, but I sure smell like it.

I had the same problem last year, and figured that was probably one ticket I might actually be able to talk myself out of.
