Tailing the Komets

Notes from Saturday night

* Komets rallied from a 3-0 first-period deficit to win 4-3 in a shootout and break a six-game road losing streak.

* Komets coach Al Sims said Artem Podshendyalov's injury is ``very minor.'' Frankie DeAngelis also got dinged when he was skated over as he tried to block a shot in the third period. The most-serious injury might be a shoulder for Brandon Warner.

* Nick Boucher did not get hurt or injured, and he was the back-up goaltender after he got pulled in the first period.

* Guy Dupuis had his 400th career assist as a Komet, and Mathieu Curadeau scored his 101st career pro goal.

* Komets are 4-0-2 over their last six games.

What did Warner do to hurt his shoulder?

Warner got run over from behind middle of the third period behind FW net. No call.

Thanks for the quick update, Blake. I was very concerned when I heard Bob Chase describe the injury to Podshendyalov. Hopefully he will return in time for Friday night. Could you update us on any further news on him as the week goes on?

I didn't like to hear about the injury to Warner or DeAngelis.

It sounds as though this game was a very physical game with injuries to both teams. They have played each other so often that they're probably sick of each other by now.

OK. The K's have this week to heal up and the return of Chaulk. Ten points out of a possible twelve. We need to get Shrock back from the IR, we need Podshendyalov to be OK, and see how Al Sims incorporates evryone together.

How many roster moves will have to be done when everyone is healthy? I am guessing 2...

Hope aPod, Warner, and Franke are all ok... May not be a Warner fan but he doesn't deserve to go out on injury. He played well on Friday and hoping he is turning the corner. time will tell as long as injury doesn't decide someones fate for us..

Havn't heard anyone has a serious injury yet, but many times we do not find out until a day or 2 later.. best wishes to all of them.

Oh, and nice job Komets. Coming back from 3 goals down shows a lot of heart.. something we missed early on.

I also saw Warner take a cheap elbow at mid-ice from Vaskivuo (sp) that didn't get a call either. I saw several high hits to the head that could all be sent to the league for review. Not sure they will do it, but Dayton was definitely on a mission tonight to "hurt" the Komets.

Kyle Bochek gave LKS a knee to knee shot too.

Great come back! Two weeks ago this team would have hung their heads and lost 7-0. Let's keep the ball rolling!

Yup. A very good comeback victory. This team is definitely coming together now, and their confidence is lightyears ahead of what it was earlier in the season.

Happy to hear the comeback. Chase's indications of changes coming is something to look forward to. Bring back Mac and replace LeGault at least.

I wasnt at the game, but watched it on T.V. and the officiating looked awful?!? Is that off the wall Blake or is that statement correct. That I caught a lot of dirty plays from both teams that were failed to be called. Before, we started in this league everybody said the officiating was suppose to be much better than the IHL. I have yet to see that and if anything, I feel that the officiating is no better. IMO. I am not a Warner fan, but really hope he isnt hurt. He is a very nice guy in person. I thought that was a cheap shot against Warner. I also be on his case a lot the past couple weeks, but feel he has improved a lot the past couple games. I also hope Apod is ok. That would be a huge loss for us. Great comeback win last night. I was glad to see Kevin come in the net and play really good after getting pulled last night. Keep winning Komets!! The worst part to everything is Winter Break is over and I have to go back to work tomorrow and educate kids!!!! LOL Hope everybody on here including Blake had a blessed Christmas and everybody has a Happy New Year!!! Yogi

Word on Mac from Pueblo paper is he left Colorado and their team is not looking to trade him should he decide to come back to hockey.

Sorry to hear about Warner, nice guy personally, but as stated before with defensemen scoring more goals than forwards it does not bode well for our goalies who have to defend a powerplay caused by certain players not being able to get back on a breakaway; certainly as evidenced in the last home game.

Thanks Hit "Kyle Bochek gave LKS a knee to knee shot too."
It was definitely a Boo Boo Chek! Sure hope all the guys on both teams get well soon and something gets done about the officiating--terrible set up for all of them! Let's get back to playing good hockey!

Most encouraging thing about this hockey game was the "heart" shown in the K's coming back from a 3-0 deficit. The fact that they did not tuck tails and hang heads at that point, and were able to come back and tie the game, was as good as a win in my book. The final goal giving us the win was frosting on the cake! Go K's.

Blake, will Warner be out or will he fight thru it?

Blake Sebring
Sun, 01/02/2011 - 8:26pm

I have no idea the severity yet and probably won't until Tuesday. My guess? He always tries to fight through things. He plays with more dings than many players which is one reason he has so much respect from his teammates.

I missed what the call was on NY Eve right at the 0:00 mark that carried over into the overtime period. Can anyone enlighten me on that one? Thanks!!

BLB, The penalty that Rodger got was for "Board Check"....that's how it's listed on the gamesheet. Since the penalty was at the end of regulation, it became a 1:00 minor, the remaining time on Drouin's penalty was cut in half.

Hope that helps....

That was odd. Must be one of the CHL rules that we hadn't know of yet?

It was a first for me and everyone sitting around me.

Any minor in overtime in the CHL is only 1 minute...Shouldn't have been a shock to the fans.

The AHL has done that in past years as well

It is a shock when you have played in the IHL and UHL over the past 10 years.

New league new rules...check out the box score from games other than just Fort Wayne and that is something you can pick up very early into the year

Nah.....that is too easy.

I will just rely on you to keep me afloat on the rules.

What is icing again?

You mean people should have known about it advance just like they knew about the shootouts being 5 rounds instead of just 3? ;)

I seem to remember hearing the bit about penalties being cut in half in overtime as a proposal at some point, but it wasn't something I thought was a good idea.

Eh, if it isn't the way they do it in the NHL, I think it's weird.
