Tailing the Komets

Notes from Saturday night

* Komets rallied from a 3-0 first-period deficit to win 4-3 in a shootout and break a six-game road losing streak.

* Komets coach Al Sims said Artem Podshendyalov's injury is ``very minor.'' Frankie DeAngelis also got dinged when he was skated over as he tried to block a shot in the third period. The most-serious injury might be a shoulder for Brandon Warner.

* Nick Boucher did not get hurt or injured, and he was the back-up goaltender after he got pulled in the first period.

* Guy Dupuis had his 400th career assist as a Komet, and Mathieu Curadeau scored his 101st career pro goal.

* Komets are 4-0-2 over their last six games.

I don't think half of the players and either both or one of the head coaches knew the rule either as both benches had to be instructed, several players had conversations with the ref and linesmen, and then I saw several players confused as to how many players were to be on the ice to start the overtime.

I guess if GM had a Mega-Phone, this never would have been an issue because he could have announced it to the whole arena that way we all could have known since we are less educated than thee.

LOL

Heaven forbid a fan actually know the rules of the league that the team he follows plays in...If he knows the rules he obviously must be a know it all. xxxx him for taking 30 seconds to educate himself..what a jerk!

"xxxx him for taking 30 seconds to educate himself..what a jerk!"

Maybe rather than taking 30 seconds to educate on hockey, one could take 30 seconds to educate ones self on how to be respectful? Or take that extra 30 seconds to find a sense of humor? Heck.. lots of things that 30 seconds could have been used for other than brushing up on any and all obscure hockey rules. ..... just sayin.. ;-)

Obviously wasn't that bad if it's still posted, eh? You want to talk about respect? How about jumping someone simply because they actually know the rules of the league? That makes perfect sense...

Oh my gosh....thank you for the information. I actually had just asked what the penalty itself was, not why it was only 1 minute, GameMisconduct. I vaguely remembered hearing about the 1 minute penalties before the season started nearly 4 months ago (and this situation has not yet happened to my knowledge...anyone else recall this happening?), I just really did not know what the call itself was....I still don't think it was a valid one myself, but maybe I was just wearing some orange glasses that night...I've been guilty of that from time to time....

The comment about the 1 min OT penalties was not directed towards you, BLB

I actually was joking around with GM.

Didn't think I needed the extra name calling. Wow.

I guess I just got taught.

I apologize for joking with you GM.

All honesty, I did not realize the half minute penalty thing until it happened, and I caught on quickly.

I apologize once again for not reading the rule book from front to back in this league. I will try to be a better fan.

And I applaud you for being so up on all the rules GM.

No one will admit that they were scratching their heads on the rule.....so I will stand out as the jackass here.

Oh well.

Oh, Hit, I will admit to scratching my head on many, many other rules...LOL....and honestly, once it happened....I just remembered vaguely that Blake had posted something about it months ago. But I'm shocked I remembered that since I generally am a ditz and forget my phone number, so don't feel bad. You normally are very up on the rules and have taught me plenty of them over the past couple years here!! Don't call yourself a name....at least not until you have earned it...LOL....

And there's a rule book in this league?! Have the refs and linesmen been told?! :O

No need to read the rulebook, just look at the box scores of the other games and it'll be easy to pick up on those things.

I'm glad you're making the commitment to be a better fan, that's a great new year resolution for ya. I have faith that you'll be able to one day reach my level of great fandom..If anyone can do it, it's you. I myself am trying to be more like JM, dude is a genius! I often like to hide in his closet to try to pick up on some of his tendencies...Perhaps that's something you'd like to try with me? I can leave a window unlocked for ya

Careful with that last comment, the moral police might come running in screaming about you showing some respect! I guess Paul Gillis must have some free time

They should have a segment on the GOTW for that during one of the intermissions -- recapping other recent games throughout the CHL. It might help fans keep up with things considering that this is a much larger league.
