Obama the conservative

Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne, whose column appeared in this morning's Journal Gazette, gets the prize for most brazen twisting of words to make them say what he wants them to say instead of what they actually mean:

For the first time since Barry Goldwater made the effort in 1964, the Republican Party is taking a run at overturning the consensus that has governed U.S. political life since the Progressive era.

No, the current group of GOP hopefuls want to outlaw abortion, gay rights, gays in the military, defund Planned Parenthood, get rid of the departments of Energy, Education, and uh, I forget the third. They want to further cut taxes for the wealthy and raise taxes on the working poor. They want to overturn the First Amendment protecting children from school-led prayer in school. They want to throw out virtually all gun control laws. I could go on all day. They decidedly do not want to leave things alone. Please understand that I'm not saying these goals are bad; I am merely saying they clearly represent a desire for sweeping change. That's liberalism.

Small place .... : Thanks for the load of male-cow-dung. And we know that you "can go on all day", since you do with regularity! And your definition of liberalism is unique! How, other than through the one's "change" pronouncement, has it become the exclusive property of liberals?
And could you please, in the future, include the "working wealthy" with your "working poor" ?
Plus, could you identify just how school-led prayer is harmful to the school children? Isn't it the parents who are claiming to be harmed?
You are correct in saying that "they decidedly do not want to leave things alone" - they wish to return things to where they were before the so-called progressives began to take over!

Allow me to edit Littlejohn's screed!

"No, the current group of GOP hopefuls want to outlaw abortion (yep), gay rights (nope, they have the same rights as everyone else), gays in the military (we'd be happy going back to dadt), defund Planned Parenthood (hell yeah), get rid of the departments of Energy, Education, and uh, I forget the third. (hell yeah) They want to further cut taxes for the wealthy (hell yeah) and raise taxes on the working poor (that's a lie and you know it). They want to overturn the First Amendment protecting children from school-led prayer in school (that's a lie too). They want to throw out virtually all gun control laws (oh please you KNOW that's a lie). I could go on all day (yes you could). They decidedly do not want to leave things alone. NOBODY has the "RIGHT" to join the United States Armed Forces.

But everyone should have the right to not have to hide their sexual orientation... as DADT requires.

Why shouldn't everybody have the right to join the armed forces, Tim?

Isn't that "equal protection of the laws"?

And we all know terrible things happen> when DADT gets taken away.

Warning: link contains not-terrible things.
