The final determination to be made on number of games once medical documentation is sent to the league later today. He is definitely out for Wednesday's game.
No news yet on the Komets' asking the league to review Les Reaney's hit later on O'Connor.

Sims gets ripped for not using "goonery"
"The hit that O
My concern is OC is going to get MacMillianized. I think GM has a point, scream bloody murder to the press and the league listens.
Well.. there's certainly a bit of fire in the series now... and from what I've read and seen it's the same in the ALN-ODE and BOS-TUL series as well.
It's silly that this round is just a 5 game series... anything beyond the first round ought to be 7 games every time...
guess what this isnt about the two teams this is about the unfair actions taken here on this game so rush fans dont bring up the other stuff! komet fans its not about them whining or anything like that this just needs to be called evenly!
I still say I would of put Mirasty on the playoff roster
Agreed Rob these series should be 7 games. Well our goon, OC, took care of your goon Wray in the fight. That play was a bang bang play it happen to say the hit was an intent to injure is just plain stupid. I agree the suspension is right two games max, but for the CHL to wait for a medical report to determine the length is just stupid. Reaney should also get a game because his intentions were well know. The bad thing is we skate a man short while RC can replace the injured player. If Reaney is not suspended they get an advantage.
Suspension of some sort was the proper call. Now if they don't suspend the other player as well then that would NOT be proper.
But calm down people. There is no anti Komets conspiracy here!
So where was the suspension on Christian when he INTENTIOALLY elbowed Frankie in the head and Frankie gets a concusion. This was a ridiculous ruling. No intent to injure and no blow to the head.
Dan makes a good point. The Christian play was far worse and the intent was there.
GM... there is a clear picture of O'Connors shoulder plastering Menei's chin (and his lid is still on) and O'Connor was never in front of Menei... there really isn't a question that this wasnt a backside, lateral, blindsided hit. I highly doubt that it was OC's intentions to knock out Menei. Was it intentional...I dont think so, but stuff happens. There has been a huge crackdown on these high blindsided hits the past few years and its for the safety of these players. The suspension was appropriate. Possibly 2 games, probably 3 games and if the CHL wants to send a message a max of 5. Reaney will likely get a game at most since he has history with the league (more of a talker than a dirty player)
Let's see this picture then, Steve
Go to the CHL forums to the Rapid City page... its there if you take the time too look. You were there last night, along with some others new Ft Wayne posters
I've seen the pictures on there, I haven't seen a single picture that was a clear shot of OC's shoulder going into Menei's chin tho
Page 8 is one... not clearest of pictures, but looking at that still frame photo, you can understand why a suspension was handed out
Steve, please email me a link to the picture at bsebring@news-sentinel.com. Thanks. And where were you Monday night? It was fascinating.
there is also one on page 17 just after the blow was delievered... Menei still vertical and the only thing reacting is his head (as his lid flies off)
1st, you said a clear picture..that's anything but a clear picture.
You can't tell any detail whatsoever in that picture other then they are running into each other. Can't tell if his shoulder is hitting, his elbow, or even his back. Can't tell where his helmet is in that picture nor can you see where his head is looking. You're going to have to come up with a lot better picture than that.
Blake, Ill email you the pictures that the Rush fans are claiming to be so obviously clear

here is one as O'Connor finishes the check... Menei's body is still vertical and square.
Mind you that O'Connor didn't come from the door by the linesman.
Its pretty clear that he wasnt looking down as so many of you Fort Wayne hockey experts have been claiming
Where OC came off the bench is irrelevant. He was skating to get into position. You can't tell where Menei's left shoulder is, the shoulder that OC hit but you can see his loose fitting helmet on it's way off his head.
I never once stated he was looking down, he was looking across the ice to make sure everyone was on sides as it shows in this picture
http://insidedakotasports.com/menei-knocked-out-with-concussion-hit-questioned
the helmet is irrevelant in this case...how is this not a blindsided hit. O'Connor was never in front of him.
Make up your mind Steve, was it a blind side hit or a hit to the head?
Had his helmet been worn properly it would not have gone flying off after being hit in the shoulder leaving his head unprotected and cause a concussion as he hit the ice.
Actually, it's not irrelevant. The league had to consider everything. The helmet, the positioning, the speed of the players, everything.
None of this debate really matters. The decision has been made and it is what it is. It's not going to change and no one's opinion is going to be changed one way or the other. I'm not trying to discourage the discussion, but in reality it's not going to change anything.
I guess the only thing I'm surprised about is waiting for the medial report to determine the length of the suspension. That's slipperly slope stuff there because you could get into who's doctor is making the decision, etc.
From what I understand, there was not a supervisor of officials at the game, and that's unfortunate because it would be interesting to see what they would have thought.
It's definitely an imperfect system when one man is trying to control 200 feet and 34 players and four coaches. Doubt that will change, though.
If OC was never infront of Menei, OC's right shoulder never wouldve made contact with his "chin"
No steve your correct.. His head was lookin for a pass like he was lookin in the clouds. Might as well make this sissy league a non check league. Scrape him up and bring on another crybaby . Maybe next time he thinks twice before he skates across the blueline like he's in hollywood. Old time hockey steve. Old time hockey
It's obvious the decision has been made and nothing is going to change that but that should be no reason to not discuss our view points on the situation and explain how we're getting to our opinions.
Part of rule 48 is blindside and lateral...and there is no question there GM. You can debate whether the head was the intended target or not. No player will ever admit trying to take somebody out and I personally don't believe it was OC's intention.
The bottom line is this wasnt an open ice clean hit as most of you are claiming.
