Tailing the Komets

OK, let's do this right

Since we all seem to be talking back and forth over about five topics, let's put them all into one. I'll do this until 10 p.m., and then I'm done for the night.

Don't you guys think Haun has been the MVP so far?

Labenski has always been a classy player not known for cheap shots. They may think the league handled it appropriately. I know you don't want ot hear that, though. Who knows?

Just curious. I usually come on here to voice my Komet complaints and never really asked Blake anything outside of Hockey....I guess I am stupid.....or just being nice. Wow, that doesn't happen often.

Will the IHL expand, survive, or fold??? that is the pressing question. Will this town ever go AAA again? And can Hit Somebody afford it?

Playing hockey is on that list. If u get mac the puck, he actually has a really nice wrist shot

I think the IHL will survive but I don't know if any minor league in any sport can thrive right now. It's just too tough economically, and they all have problems. You know what? Never say never on AAA, I've covered this long enough to see all kinds of cyclical swings.

I think the IHL has a tough road ahead because not only do they need to shore up some shaky ground for some existing teams I really think they need to expand to make things more interesting...IMO

They need at least 8 teams next year because I really dont like this odd number teams schedule...

As I said the other day, there will always be people out there who want to own pro teams. Some will succeed, MOST will fail.

Blake Sebring

You're a minor league = you will always need to expand.

Good enough, Hit? You guys know you can always just ask me stuff regular on the blog, too. Or send me an email. Whatever works for you.

OT: Anyone thinking about going to Kzoo tomorrow night to watch former K players play since there will not be a Komet game? Just asking.

If the IHL should indeed end up folding what would you guys rather see, a lateral move to the ECHL/CHL or a jump to the AHL??

For me I would rather jump to the AHL and see AAA hockey again...

SuperFan.....Being a Cubs fan like yourself, do you think the same as me and see Ryne Sandberg being the next Cubs manager in 2 years (2011)? Seems like they are fast-tracking him thru the minors to take-over the Cubs. He might be the answer.....That would be awesome.

Go do your dishes Blake...lol... have fun...and thanks for the Q&A...

Blake Sebring
Thu, 12/10/2009 - 10:25pm

I see a bidding war. I really don't know what will happen. I'd guess ECHL, but I really don't have a strong feeling either way. I don't see CHL, too far to travel. It might depend if a block of teams goes one way or the other.

I'm not a Cubs fan Hit; but I would love to see Sandberg managing the Cubs... I'm a big Sandberg fan...

Blake Sebring

I kind of hope so, but I think they have to clean house first and start fresh. I think he would do better with a younger team, which is why they are moving him up gradually.

Billy Williams was my favorite Cub first, the Bill Buckner and then Sandberg.

Blake, I have no problem with someone "sticking up for a buddy". But coming on here and pumping his tires and basically saying he will lead the team to a cup, take over the number one spot, be the Komet goalie of the future and do this and that and the other is, like I said, pretty bold and somewhat naive and disrespectful given who we already have here between the pipes........

I know there have been inquiries almost every year about moving an AHL team here to Ft Wayne...

Bigjohn

Ditto....They need to get rid of the injury proned players in order to contend.

Thanks Super Fan.

I just really don't think an AHL team would work in FW because of finances. I really don't see FW paying the prices it would take. I've lived here my whole live and I just don't see them opening the wallets for what it would take.
