Oleksy leaves Komets

The Komets also announced Tuesday that defenseman Steven Oleksy has decided not to join Fort Wayne's roster and has been placed on waivers. Komets general manager David Franke said Oleksy felt he was going to have a difficult time making the team and is looking for a spot in the ECHL.

``I disagreed with him but this is something he thought about,'' Franke said. ``We'll accommodate him and probably look for another defensman. It has to be an American kid for immigration reasons to get him all filed and signed up.''

Will he have any trouble finding one?

``I've got a zillion emails from players.''

Franke said an extra defenseman is the only position he's still trying for fill for the training camp roster.

Why do they need another D-Man?

Looks like that is the one place we don't have much of a need, really. Not unless they aren't going to keep all the guys we are familiar with. Let's hope that KR gets a fair shake and isn't going to get jerked around this year. He needs to be a D-Man, not a guy that floats around and gets 3 shifts as a Forward. I would expect him to have a very strong camp to leave no doubts in anyone's mind.

Also, the only spot to fill is a D-Man? Thought they were looking for toughness and another big Enforcer to fill that last spot with??? They said that even after the Legault announcement.

Not complaining, just wondering.

Only thing I can figure is that they'd like to bring someone in to push the veteran blueliners a little. They really don't need anything else.
