Tailing the Komets

One down

The first practice is done.

There was a lot of high-speed skating and drills, and coach Pat Binham almost immediately jumped into teaching some of his systems, especially for entry into the zone and some neutral ice stuff. Because it was all drills, nobody stood out, but more importantly nobody looked out of place. Guys came into camp in pretty good shape. Nobody was huffing and puffing in the locker room 10 minutes after practice -- which I've sometimes seen in the past. The tempo remained pretty consistent all the way to the end of practice, too. The mood throughout practice was pretty good as both coach and players were cracking jokes.

No, there were no fights.

Aubin has a bad back. He says he'll be ready in a few days, the Komets say let's go get an MRI.

Let's hope Aubin isn't the next Ken Boone.

Blake -- why the preoccupation with reporting the number of fights? That's NOT what this is all about.

Blake

I agree completely, but I guarantee you if I had not put it in there someone would have asked in about five minutes. Saving time.

KW, I can tell you about what a fight is...
Main Entry: 2fight
Function: noun
1 a : a hostile encounter : BATTLE , COMBAT b : a boxing match c : a verbal disagreement : ARGUMENT
2 : a struggle for a goal or an objective
3 : strength or disposition for fighting : PUGNACITY

Soooo.....soccer mom A and Hockey Mom B get to Toys R Us at the same time. There is only one Wee Wee Elmo left. Both make a move for the toy and a verbal disagreement ensues resulting in a hostile encounter which results in a boxing match.
I hope this helps.

You dont get it hobo MAN becuase when there is a fight there is a penilty and the Komets and the other teams player go to the penalty box so it is part of the hockey game and important to now. get it!

Tony E
Mon, 10/02/2006 - 8:36pm

But do they still get to go to the penalty box if there is less than 5 minutes left or are they made to go stand in the corner of a cold shower in the lockeroom?
Bob....ummmmm errrr I plead the 5th due to the late hour and the fact that I have taken a head first leap into the realm of irremediable perturbation at the thought of asking Komet Warrior questions which might prove that in fact I do NOT know everything. LOL

Speaking of Shane Kenny.

Remember when he dropped Lawmaster with one punch like a piece of excrement from a tall cow's fanny?

I remember it well. I just hope somebody on this team can hip check like Kenny could Man if he could have stayed healthy he would have been one of my favorites

I, for one, am just glad that the off-season hype is behind us and the K's are on the ice.....

Blake, Do you have pictures of the new jerseys?

Greg
Tue, 10/03/2006 - 5:02am

I liked Kenny to for the Hip Check. When he got the waggle going you knew he was going to hit somebody, but I don't think he fought very well. It took him three times with Trevort Senn and Senn got the better of him twice.

Tony, looking forward to the Leafs and the Sens Wednesday night???

JungleMonkey
Tue, 10/03/2006 - 5:58am

Honestly, Kenny threw down when needed. Senn was a tough dude. I would take Kenny in a fight over Worlton, Holliday, or Koty.

Tony E
Tue, 10/03/2006 - 6:49am

Greg.. Very much so though I can't figure out why they are going to keep all three goalies on the roster to start the season. Another year of Maple Leafs chaos lol. Rumour has it they will cut Jeff O'neill later today. I would be surprised if it happens but there are "sources" reporting it could very well happen.

Blake...it took you this long to come to that conclusion? LOL

Greg
Tue, 10/03/2006 - 6:52am

JM- I'll give on Worlton and Holliday, I think Koty could go toe to toe with Kenny.

Tony-That's what I heard to.

Kenny once said that he doesn't paticularily like to fight, but he'll do it if need be. Hip checking is a lost art in the UHL; I hope someone on this years team can hip check properly.

Tony and Greg-Coach Maurice said he doesn't plan to cut O'Neil and either won't play him for a few weeks or put him on injury reserve. If he's not performing by then they may try to send him to the AHL, but O'Neil has already said he won't go to anything less than the NHL.
