Tailing the Komets

One game for Rudenko

The league just ruled. He'll sit out Friday's game against Rockford.

Here's what he said earlier today about the hit:

``The rage took over and I couldn't think,'' Rudenko said, laughing.

Then he got serious: ``I saw an opportunity, and I couldn't stop
myself. It's one of those things. Hopefully soon we'll find out what
happens, possibly one or two games hopefully and not more. I turned
around, and what are you going to do? I probably shouldn't have done
it, but it is what it is.''

Now you're heading in the right direction to see my point of view. I would have thought that the league took Otten's hit on Rudenko into consideration and found no problem with it (just like me). Yes Kean ended up with PCSS (no, I'm not spelling it all out)but how it happen with Kean is diferent then what Rudenko did so that's why I imagine Kean's assailant was not suspened and Rudenko was. I don't agree with it at all, but I can understand their way of thinking.

Keaner was elbowed from behind head first into the boards right in front of us. Always thought that was just a plain stupid missed call. the hit was extremely violent with intent to harm. I totally agree that those types of hits are out of line. It's a fine line knowing when to re-taliate to let them know that you're not going to take it, and just letting it go. I sure wouldn't want the players jobs.

And that's where we agree. Kean's call was missed, I don't have a problem admitting that. I guess the question is, do we and/or the UHL really want to deter players from committing the penalties?

it really just comes down to this, maybe rudenko should have waited and fought later, but the whole point to look at is this, isnt it much more refreshing to see something happen? right or wrong it sure beat what we had to sit thru the last couple of years. right or wrong, it was good to see somebody stick up for themselves and lets hope it continues but with smarter retaliations!

I will agree to the point of smarter realiations but not with that specific incident. Yes Rudenko should have waited. This brings to mind a game with San Diego a year after the Komets won the Cup. Danielle (yes, i know it Daniel I just help myself) Shank was really giving it to John Purves. Danny Lambert squashed him up against the glass (which was beautiful and yet deserved a suspension) and later on in the game Purves got Shank back LEGALLY. Patience, it was the first game and there would have been other oppoutunities.

What excuse do we hear this weekend for McWhinney sitting the bench? Isn't this the Minor Leagues...shouldn't we be at least attempting to develop young talent here? Could we have a promising young goaltender and not even know it? Can Kevin St. Pierre play 95% of the games this season and remain focused, sharp, and on top of his game without major injuries? I know this is a very unpopular topic with Mr. Sebring...but is it really wise to sit the backup goalie every week? Does that build confidence? Does that give him experience? Does that keep him sharp? Is this the smartest thing to do when we have an older Frenchy who suffers from injuries every year and does start looking unfocused after about 3 weeks of games?

I think Frenchy is a good Goalie...lets not burn him out a month into the season though. Give the kid a chance. K-Zoo did last season...how did that work-out again?

Gotta agree with Hit. (Somebody has to)... Really, It wouldn't hurt Frechy to take a night off. I'm betting McWhinney doesn't get a start until next Saturdays Port Urine Battlecats game.. What the heck is their name anyway? I know its not the Beacons.. The Flags.. Its after midnight folks.

It is early and the Komets haven't had that much action. One the season gets under way where they're play 3 in 3 or 4 in 5 then yes McWhinney should get one or two games, but This is the Komet's 4th and 5th game. I doubt and serious stress has been put on them yet.
