The Turnstone Flyers youth team finished second today at the Bob Chase Frostbite Classic, losing to Columbus, Ohio, 2-0 in the championship. I cannot believe how much better these players have gotten over the last year. Way to go Flyers!

I gave my wife a special Valentine's Day, we spent most of it at Canlan watching hockey!
First I have to say what a nice facility Canlan is, I'm glad Fort Wayne finally has more ice available. This place is nice.
We spent the day bouncing back and forth between sled hockey, girls travel, and select pee wee games. The sled hockey is truly amazing. Hockey people are great, good people to be around, but the fans and families of the sled hockey players are fantastic and special just like their players.
Now I'm sitting at home watching USA's girls team take it to China's.
I so wish I could of taken Jon down, but he became ill this weekend..and we weren't able to make it.
Hope it's nothing serious.
not just a flu bug..its put him on the couch for the most part of the weekend...he did allow us to get out a little today, but he wasn't in the mood to sit in a cold building...
Really great tournament. I was there waiting for my able-bodied son to get out of the locker room and watched as 4 sled hockey players from Pittsburgh get out of there of their chairs by themselves put themselves into sleds and pushed themselves onto the ice. I don't know many people who could do that. They guys are very strong with incredible upper body strength. I watched in amazement as they shot very fast wrist shots. Better then some of the pee wees I was watching the game before. I talked to one of the coaches and told me that one of the players on Pittsburgh team was an Olympian in 2002 and another guy on the junior nationals team. I can't tell you how impressed I am with these athletes they are gems for the sport of hockey.
