Without counting what the boxscore says.....how many shots on goal has Francis had? And how horrible is this ref??

Fri, 11/05/2010 - 8:33pm

Did anyone else notice how big the bloomington goalie is...the program says 195 lbs....but either he's got massive pads he's bigger then 195.....

Come on guys...Reiter kept you in this game and Francis can't do it alone....
Curdy is not even close to a replacement for Chaulk..he's horrible in faceoffs....
I love you Legualt but waiving ward or fletcher over him was a questionable.....

Ok tomorrow is a new day.....come out stronger..faster tomorrow!

Let's look on the bright side, not many hooking calls tonight...

That Francis kid looked really good! I hope the other see the effort he's putting into his game. Tomorrow, we need a quick garbage goal and see what happens...

Ok get ready with the tomatoes: I don't see how Reiter was so great for us tonight. For at least two of the goals, he was at least 10-15 feet outside of the goal. Haun had the same problem last season. This "radar" Blake speaks of must have been turned off. Anybody know why we didn't pick up Haun again? Other than that, Dupuis needs to go and we need to stop hitting the goalie in the chest. Plain and simple. On the upside, Francis was good.

The komets can practice all they want but until the get rid of 75% of last years players they will be one of the two teams that will not make the playoffs. IMO.

The best part of the game was when Warner got kicked out.

JungleMonkey
Fri, 11/05/2010 - 9:25pm

Warner should be cut. What a selfish act. If you are marginal talent, you shouldn't go out your way to make a foolish sepctical of yourself.

These guys don't play as a team. Simple as that.

Guys that you can tell care about this team and winning: Phillips, Cescon, Schrock, Rodger, Thomas, Francis.

This team needs a gut check. The effort was pathetic. Seriously, the new guy put forth the best effort by far.

Legault was on the IR.. how was he playing? Im confused. Well, he was on the ice. "Playing" is a different story. Tatanka took it to him.

five games into the season and just as i expected, all of you so called fans are jumping ship already. really brutal, you should all be ashamed of yourselves. know i remember why its not worth my time to even respond on here anymore.

They didn't pick Haun up because none of the players liked him last season.

Don't see too much jumping ship, just trying to figure out whats going on, but thanks for the addition to the discussion...

Fri, 11/05/2010 - 10:44pm

Let me start by saying, that was Classic Chuckitt right there. Never add to the discussion, critic the commenters. You the man Chuck.

I have so much to say and I don't know how to organize it all,, so let me just give some random thoughts about tonight and this team up to this point:

1. Am I so frustrated that I have forgotten how many players are allowed to play in a game. We had 19 players tonight.....I thought it was 18 max. My understanding was basically 2 goalies, 6 D-men, 9 Forwards, and 1 extra skater. I admit I could be wrong here...so if I am, I apologize. I must be wrong.

2. Francis was good tonight. Only guy in Orange and Black that looked like he belonged on the ice as a forward. The rest of them....I don't know what to even say anymore.

3. Rechlicz skated hard. You can't count on anything more than that really. He is not a skilled guy obviously.

4. Who was the center on the Rodger, Legault, and Rechlicz line??? That was dreadful.

5. BWs....he deserves to be bashed IMO....I know he is sacred to some on here.....but you give away the puck at least 2 times on that shift, fall down, allow your man to skate the puck into a 4 on 1, and you only hustle so you can beef at the Ref??? The ref tells you to skate away, you continue to %itch, and you get run from the game. Oh and the play resulted in a goal, and put your team short-handed once again. He is over his head in this CHL in my opinion.

6. Is Patrosso skating 50%?

7. Curadeau was invisible tonight, completely. Shouldn't he be one of the most noticed guys on the ice?

8. Cescon is the man defensively. He is Bertram, the Bertram that first came to the Komets that was strong, physical, and fundementally sound defensively.

9. I thought this roster was loaded when it was assembled early in the summer and the other teams were not signing players. We signed 95% IHL players. I am not a freaking genius, but I am guessing that this roster would dominate the IHL of the last 3 years, without a doubt. This roster cannot score a single goal in front of their home crowd, and has looked awful thus far. There are so many things wrong out there, offensively and on the Power Play, is this thing even fixable? I am wondering if it can be fixed at all. Say you waive 6-8 forwards....where do you find 6-8 guys to compete at this level?

10. Our top players are invisible on the ice. Guys that are very frustrating.....OC, PC, Naurato, Patrosso, Curdy, even Schrock tonight was non-existant.

11. What is the point of Legault? Come on?

I have lots more to say, but I will stop to read what others think. I will say this, I think the other ex-IHL teams did a better job putting together their teams. We are seeing this now. They didn't go with what was comfortable and easy, they did their homework, and got players at the CHL level.

This isn't the IHL folks.

Chuckitt will respond 3 more times about how he isnt going to respond anymore. Saying Warner needs to go and the rest of the team needs to care isnt jumping ship. When fans start accepting losing as part of the franchise, you stop seeing championships. Ask the Cubs.

Fri, 11/05/2010 - 10:53pm

Was Chuck even at the game? How does he walk away happy after that.

Have we ever been shut-out the first 2 home games of a season in the 59 year history???

Can't we get Hextall on the phone and see if it isn't too late to work something out with Flint and Perani for the rest of the year, playing in the IHL, under the IHL moniker and not under this monster known as the CHL Moniker. Because we look lousy under that moniker.

Would breaking out the Flint jersey tomorrow night help us score goals and win a game? I am retiring my pretty new Komets in diagonal white with orange and black stripes as it is 0-2 and has been outscored 8-0 when wearing it this year. I wonder if I have any goals left in any of the old jerseys......It might be the Flint one tomorrow night.

I am not sure who is jumping ship here to be honest. The only thing I see are a lot of the same thoughts hitting the screen from various people.
First off, #94 couldn't pay to win a face off and we won't even discuss his lack luster attempts to play defense. Warner is an absolute joke. I guess when your parents make a crap ton of money then they can buy you a spot on the team. Francis was outstanding, I'd like to see what his actual ice time was tonight.
As for Reiter, he likes to play the puck aggressively and I have nothing wrong with that at all but when he does the D-men or even a forward should make themselves available to receive the puck not just decide to bail and head to the bench.
As far as all you people ragging on #2, get real seriously. The biggest reason he has taken so many hooking calls is because of his play style. Any one who has even remotely watched him play knows this. He is an offensive-minded D-man. Over the last couple seasons he has had great forwards to play with that know how to play at both ends of the rink and with his play style if you don't have those types of forwards to cover down when you pinch then you are in fact gonna get burned a few times. I noticed his reluctance to pinch as much tonight. It is a shame that he has to utterly change his play style because we can't get a Hukalo, Chaulk or Shaf type player to adjust when he pinches.
As for #82, there is nothing to say. He is still slow, un-coordinated, no stick skills and a decent kick bag. I know he is a good person off the ice but seriously for the love of the fans and the team get some one that can fight, skate and puck handle.
Nod @ Andy Sherman, This too is what I know to be true. He just wanted to be a #1 goalie and was very unhappy being a back up and he let the powers that be know. Very unfortunate on his part as some times being humble at the right times can work out for the best.
Last but not least as Janice mentioned, did any one else thing Emund(sp) was overly large in net? He had to be at least 3 feet wide from hip to hip with that gear. I guess the CHL doesn't carry the same rules for size and dimensions of goalie gear. If any one happens to know please enlighten me as I would really like to know.

Funny you guys mention Emond's gear, I commented on it to start the game during the opening of the game and then to start the 2nd period, and everyone around me agreed and said he looked like he had something under his jersey to widen him. He had pads or something across his shoulders that was very noticeable and it has to be illegal.

Not any excuse for the game though.

A good observation none-the-less.

Wonder if Chad got any pictures of Emond and his illegal get-up?

Another side note for all the Warner Fans out there! I happen to work with (and I had already checked this out prior to his mentioning) a gentleman that has been in local youth hockey for a long time and we got to chatting one day about certain players. Obviously you can see where this is going am'I'rite? He made comments that Warner was never that good during youth hockey and they actually spent more time on the bench at Michigan St. than on the ice. If you don't believe me then goto hockeydb and check it out yourself. In his fourth season he had more games than the first three combined 23(22) and was the one D-man with the least ice time aside from two others that had 2 and 3 games each. I assume both of those D-men were actually younger than Warner. I guess much like being with the Komets he has found a way to just ride the wave to victory and championships while every one else does all the work.

Emond has always played the Komets tough but tonight....
sigh
2 home games....how many goals for the home team?

Tomorrows game will be telling. You KNOW Al Sims ripped them hard after this game.

How do they respond? With the same effort as tonight? If so...who goes... the players? The coach? (no way in *** Sims is the problem at this point but throwing it out there)
I would say this, I would be SHOCKED if after 15 games this roster looks this way if they are losing. No contracts in this league are guaranteed (as far as I know,,, Blake? )
There is no way Komets ownership is going to pay these vets to get their heads handed to them. They can lose with rookies and see more speed and hustle while they make the same mistakes are 28 and up crowd are making now for half the salary.

It is too early to jump off the ship. The Komets have not stood by and watched a season slip away in years. Changes will be made. Will they work? Who knows but at least you can count on them trying to improve the team.

The stars of the IHL are not that good in the CHL......there, I have said it. Last year, or years leading up to it, I would have never said that or admitted to it.

Now, after what I have seen, the IHL was great for us as we were winning titles and we had nothing to compare the level of play to, we just asssumed it was as good as the ECHL and CHL......

We have a team full of very good and Star IHLers.

How do you all feel about the CHL vs. the IHL???

I think we got worked over in the recruiting of players this summer. The other ex-IHL teams do have "some" IHL players, but they also added CHL type guys and are so far more successful.

Maybe the IHL was closer to "A" hockey than what our pride was allowing us to want to believe???

I think so. I wanted to think that the IHL was some great Minor League where our players could play against the CHL or ECHL all-stars and we would role over them.

Well now, I think we know.

0 power forwards, 1 hitting d-man and 0 passing centers= losing team....

As for the few breaks comment by Coach....lucky breaks don't win championships. Talent and 3 periods of effort do. You shouldn't need breaks to win.

Legault got caught at the end of his shift=should not of fought at that time..

If memory serves, I recall saying that the ihl was single A hockey quite awhile back. Most people jumped on me and called me names. Looks like I may have been right after all. My prediction for Saturday nights game. Evansville 6 - Komets 2.

Everyone keeps saying changes will be made if this keeps up. Ok we can waive 3 or 4 of the dead weight players but then what? Its not like there are any out there waiting by the phone that are CHL quality players that haven't signed anywhere. And are we gonna scream to Columbus and say "We need help send us what you got"? Francis is a great pickup but is he going to stay here all year? Really doubt it. He will be back in Springfield at some point in time. Warner, Legault and Drouin need to go. Maybe Dupuis too. We don't play crisp stick to stick hockey and it show in our play. Is there anybody we can call up from single A league? This team would win 60 games in the IHL. They won't win 15 in the CHL. And Emonds gear wasn't too big, the goals are smaller.

Do some of you people even know what your talking about? "My friends friends brother told me Warner wasnt good in youth hockey" C'mon, you've obviously have never played or even been around youth hockey. Anybody that has played youth hockey here will know that the teams Warner played on, were probably the best teams that Fort Wayne has ever had. They were one of the top teams in the NATION for several years FYI.
Also, you dont know what went on when Warner was at Michigan State. Maybe he could have easily transferred and played every game at another college.?. What an elite program he was recruited to though...
By the way, DAL, your comments made a great laugh for me.
Folks, its five games into the season, give the panic button a rest. Try backing off the players and give them a chance to be comfortable for once.

This is great! I am having more fun this year in a legit league than I have the last 3 years of the IHL...

Defense is NOT fine.... The constant forechecking we are seeing from teams in the CHL is creating havoc in our own zone... We need to work on getting the puck out of our own zone with regularity and then go from there. And no, that does not mean continuing to utilize the home run pass to the other teams blue line... It doesnt work in this league. Get a lil mustard behind our passes and get them there instead of trying to float every pass to a team mate.

We are searching for offense and looking to a defensive minded coach for answers. Maybe the K's should look into having someone with knowledge of NHL rules called play come in to set up an offense and break out plays for the K's??? Might not hurt.

Talent is there; but missing a few peices and a good offensive game plan. They need to find a sense of urgency because less games in the season means less time to get things straightened out. Does anyone think they can "wait" until X-mas to start playing this season????
