if you have to ask why we signed mirasty then you really dont understand intimidation in the game of hockey.

Yes I can see how the bench warm.. Er... Door opener could intimidate me too. I would think intimidation would involve some ice time.

I saw the door opening by Mirasty. He does whatever needs to be done even if it's opening the door. Would all of you haters just tell your teammates to jump over the wall because you are too good for that??

Reiter=my new second favorite player!! :)

While a very good possibility, something tells me it wasn't to prove that he's not above anybody. If it were Legault, I wouldn't mind one bit because he ended every fight on his back. Mirasty on the other hand has the potential to ruffle feathers on the other team, but Sims won't let him play, which is why he is here in the first place, because the other teams wouldn't play him. Sims is another issue altogether, but we won't rehash old arguments (other than to say that this team improved AFTER the addition of Chaulk). My overall point is don't sign a guy and then sit him, especially if he is what the fans come to see.

I would hate to see how bad the team would be getting ripped if we didn't just come off of back to back shutouts????

We didn't need Nasty out there, so he wasn't out there.

Blake I was wondering if the Komets have a new player ?

There was a guy in a suit over by the players wives section that none of us could figure out who he was...it for sure wasn't any of our scratched players....

My only concern would be how much money he'll be drawing to sit on the bench once the 5 games are up.

JungleMonkey
Sun, 02/13/2011 - 9:46pm

He'll count against the cap to the tune of $550. Just like Francis and anyone else assigned from the AHL.

$550/wk against the cap for a guy like Mirasty is a steal.

Sims isn't going to use the guy. He doesn't use enforcers. You'd think if you ran and organization that spent thousands of dollars on intros, tshirts, and everything else... you'd tell your head coach to play the guy.

I would also like to see Mirasty be more interested in the team. I was watching the bench several times tonight and I saw every player leaning over the boards watching the play while Mirasty sat on the bench alone.

I also took my son down by the locker rooms and Mirasty was the first one out to leave. Not sure how excited he really is to be here. I dont think its as much as most are to have him here.

IcyKometsFan84...I know you read but don't post much anymore....thanks for hooking a girl and her d-man up with the tickets for the game tonight. I appreciate it!!

How excited would you be to sit every game? Its like watching everyone else have fun while you just have to sit there. It's stupid and Sims needs to step down. This team was not good until Chaulk came along. Only then did they turn it around. Sims has never had a winning record in the CHL and if not for our future coach being on the team, we would still be in dead last. Not to mention how much it irks me that we sign an awesome player (Francis, Apod, Mirasty) and he treats them like garbage while PC and Curadeau get the fattened calf. It's ridiculous and the Frankes need to man up and do something about it before Fort Wayne gets a reputation.

Man, KFX, you need to sit down and take a deep breath. Ever hear of perspective?

They've won four of five at home and eight in a row on the road and yet many of you seem to be miserable.

I heard it.....only problem is, it shouldn't be played before a faceoff.....it needs longer to play so the crowd can engage it.

I agree Mirasty should get more than 2-4 shifts a game. He should play that many shifts each period. And his job should be to park his hind-end in front of the goalie and dare the other team to move him....and if anyone takes liberties with him.....he should thump the ever living crap out of them.

But Sims won't use him. Period.

The one thing that did catch my eye about mirasty.....he was pee-O-ed at the end of the game as his teammates were celebrating and getting ready to salute the fans, he bolted for the bench and was headed to the locker-room and Guy Dupuis made it a point to yell at him and motion him back onto the ice to salute the crowd....I noticed Guy was in his ear during the salute.

My guess, mirasty won't be here next weekend.

I can't believe they announced me and ran on the scoreboard that it was my 40th birthday.....unreal. I am not 40.....gheesh.

Patrosso, Lardner, and Chaulk are nails together....

Curadeau had a good game tonight.

OC played well again tonight.

Leo had misfortune tonight as he had some really good looks from his teammates and couldn't get them to go in.

Thank You to Shrocky and PC....appreciate what you guys did for me....

I am officially a defender of PC....he is my Buddy!!! 71% or not......he is a good guy.....

Perspective is good. I do somewhat agree on Mirasty, though....it is a little odd. I know that he has a "role". I just wonder why the guy seems to be a little irked at his lack of ice time (and we wouldn't like him when he is angry...). Certainly he would have been forewarned that he was not going to be a star forward here? I would hope that he did not leave and not do the family skate because he was mad. My son was looking forward to meeting him, if not on the ice (well, that sounded funny...), then afterwards, outside the locker room (ok, sounded even funnier). But if he left....well, then. Maybe he was taking his wife out for a Valentine's Day dinner? LOL....

And that is from someone who is THRILLED that the Komets are kicking butt and taking names! :) I was talking with someone at Canlan yesterday who was saying how "awful" the Komets were....he had only been to one game this season, and it was like in October! LOL....talk about no perspective....I brought up their record over the last 15 games or so, and he looked at me like I was out of my mind. He had to have the man next to me confirm it....no way would he believe it from a younger, red-headed hockey chick like me! LOL....

I honestly don't know what you mean. Is anything I said untrue? Winning isn't everything, some people enjoy the experience of the game too, and to bring in a player like Mirasty then sit him is dumb IMO.

And what did PC and Schrocky do for you...? Did they sing to you at Bandido's or something...LOL...happy birthday, BTW....

KFX, in sports Winning is everything. Thats the entire point.

Blake Sebring

There are a couple of problems here for Mirasty and enforcers in general. There's not that much interest in fighting from the opponents, so it's useless to put him out there are left wing when the other left wings right now are Lardner, Drouin and Curadeau. Is he good enough to beat out any of those three as far as skill level? No way. No coach anywhere is going to take away shifts from those three to give him extra shifts right now. That's not a Sims problem, that's common sense.

Enforcers have done this to themselves by not improving their overall skill level. The game has changed, but they have not. If he's not going to be able to fight because there aren't that many enforcers around, he has to be able to do SOMETHING else on the ice, and somehow do it better than the three other left wings.

Blake Sebring
Sun, 02/13/2011 - 11:03pm

So put him at right wing. Is he good enough to take shifts away from Patrosso, Thomas and Schrock? There aren't a whole lot of places for him to play right now.

JungleMonkey
Sun, 02/13/2011 - 11:08pm

Tell Molle and Lardner about how the "enforcers" aren't needed. They took their lumps down in Louisiana and Texas. Mississippi, Missouri, Wichita... tell Danko that a guy like Mirasty isn't needed after he took a 2 on 1 beating. Just because the other IHL rejects are soft we sit Mirasty. Again, the Komets choose to be the punching bag rather than the Punchers.

So are the Franke's too blind to see the truth that you've just told us Blake? Why did they want Mirasty if there is no place for "his kind"?

KometsfanX
Sun, 02/13/2011 - 11:19pm

Not only what JM said but you cannot honestly sit there and say that Curadeau and PCs skill level is superior to Mirastys. Both of them are terrible and I don't really care what the stats say because the stats don't account for blatant turnovers and an inability to play well.

To sell some T-Shirts for 2 weeks, while he is here for free, while being paid by The Ducks and not counting towards the roster or cap for 5 games....

Then they will waive him......and Blake just wrote their excuse for Sims and Franke to use when they do it.

Not too hard to figure out.

LOL

Thanks BLB...

Signed Schrocky shirt with Birthday Wishes.

Signed PC Photo Button that says: To My "Buddy".....PC Drouin 71%......LOL

Thanks again guys. Keep me in check bloggers if I slip up and speak ill of my new BFF......PC Buddy.

Good Win Komets!!!!

I am loving the turn-around.......Glad that you Positive Patties and Super Fan were on top of your games and pushed all the right buttons to make this turn-around so perfect. Go on and pat each other on the back....you deserve it!!!

I'm not saying there is no need. I'm saying there is a much less need than there used to be. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, the game has changed.

Now, if he was Steve Fletcher in his prime and could play a regular shift. Or Robin Bawa or Kevin Kaminski, or Andre Roy or Sean Gagnon. Go for it. Maybe he can play a regular shift once he gets back to being in full shape. We'll have to wait and see.
