Penguins win

Well, I got the Game 7 right, but I went with the wrong team and now I owe Burgee lunch. Have you seen how that guy can drink his lunch? Oh, right, you have.

I felt from pretty much the opening faceoff tonight the Penguins were playing the better game. They controlled center ice and won all the battles in the corners and behind the net. Brad Stuart... wow, is he having a bad day.  Did anybody else notice that the Red Wings kept trying to go short-side on Fleury all night? How many times did they simply miss the net because of it?

I think the play(s) of this series have to be the two saves Scuderi made in Game 6. He'll never have to buy anything in Pittsburgh again. Never thought Detroit could lose when they shut down Malkin and Crosby, but Pittsburgh won it.

Congratulations to the Penguins

I'm thinking porterhouse after lobster bite appetizers and lobster bisque, baked potato and finish it off with key lime pie and a nice 40 year old port.

The best lunch is a free one!

Really a #12 with bbq sauce at ronnie macs.

I wanted the Penguins to win but thought for sure Detroit would finish it in six. Glad it turned out the way it did.

Pittsburgh controlled it (game 7) much more then I thought they would but did you see that diving save by Flury with about two seconds left? I thought OT for sure.

Congratulations to Pittsburgh for the win, congratulations to Detroit on a very well played series and making it to the finals again.

Next season? Go Blackhawks!!

That's very gracious, Blake. I was little off myself. Pens in 7 instead of 6. I'll admit that after those first two games, I didn't know if the Pens had it in them. Then that horrible loss in game 5. It seemed they were done for. I thought they had a decent shot at winning game 6. I wasn't getting my hopes up for tonight's game, but I did have a thought earlier today -- that they really deserved to win tonight. After all they had been through this season, how great would it be for them to finally win it all? My heart was going there at the end. And now I know there really are hockey gods after Detroit rang that one off the crossbar near the end. Yes, the hockey gods are alive and well, and they are clearly laughing at Marian Hossa right now.

Hossa's cursed. This is the second straight year he's had to watch the other team hoist the Cup on his ice.

I was partially right on the score: I said the Pens would get two goals. Of course, I also said the Wings would get three. Oh, well.

How about that Fleury? In two weeks he goes from scoring two goals on himself with his butt to being a wall in Game 7. I always appreciate a good goaltending performance, even if it means my team's lost.

I did like how it took the Penguins three full seconds after time expired to realize the game was over because that last play was so intense.

I know what you mean about the end and about the goaltending. After Fleury made that diving stop at the end, the next thing I saw was him jumping up in victory. All I could think was "Gah! Get back in position!" Then I was like, "Oh. Um... Woo-hoooooo!" It was great to see him get some redemption. But Osgood put in a pretty awesome effort too. This was a goaltending show, no doubt about it. And no matter who you were rooting for, it was an amazing game.

Burgee: Take it easy on Blake for lunch. Think about it: If you drain his pockets, we will all have to blog and post more on here to pay the bill. You really think he's paying? Come on, everyone knows they pass on the bills to the consumers!
