Tailing the Komets

Post-game notes

A few things I thought you might be interested in:

* Kevin St. Pierre has now tied Kalamazoo's Joel Martin for the top goals against average in the UHL at 2.23.

* Mark Lindsay fought for the second game in a row. ``Good for Mark,'' Komets coach Greg Puhalski said. ``He has played aggressively and generally the second half of the year he has played real solid and he has improved. He's a hard-working man.''

Considering he's only 21, that's saying something.

* How about the new guy? Jamie Milam has some great wheels and some nifty moves. I've also heard he's got the best shot on the team already which is why the Komets tried him on the point on the power play. He could be a huge factor, and it's obvious he has fresh legs.

* Mike Dombkiewicz said when he was with Kalamazoo, the last time the Wings played Flint he knocked out Flint's Dave Stewart with a check and that's what led to the altercation tonight. BTW, how good are Dombkiewicz and Guinn working together right now?

* If any of you can't see how Jorde is asking guys to go, then you're just not paying attention. I saw at least two times tonight. No one wants to mess with him because A) he's a lefty; B) he's pretty darn good and C) he's just the right amount of crazy. I've noticed a lot of times lately where he's just skated by a potential something starting with a Komet and everyone just kind of backs off. That's the real value of a player like Jorde.

* I'm very impressed with what the Komets have been doing of late. Anybody realize they are out-shooting their opponents 38-24 over their last 10 games. Who cares about the 38, but the 24 is pretty freaking good and will allow Frenchy to play as much as he wants. Penalty kills is also back on track, giving up just four goals in the last 49 chances.

Yes, the new Guy Milam(sp) has good speed, boy he was just thrown in the fire tonight and he looked good. He's got alot of offensive skill. He could be a real find for the Komets.

This team is looking good, everyone says the Komets lack toughness, but Jorde provides enough scare which will make him that much more valuable in the playoffs.

Maybe Jorde needs to challenge Dombkiewicz to a fight and show him a thing or two. Blake, you keep talking about Jorde trying to get guys to fight him, I just haven't seen it. You may be right. But I think if he really wanted to tonight, he could have found someone, Selleke or Stewart would have if Jorde would have inserted himself into the right situations.

I loved all the moves the Komets have made over the past few weeks! They are really fitting into the team and finding their place.

Was not able to go tonight, but from what I heard on radio that Domber kind of turtled and we got a 7 min PP. Hey I am all for a 7 Min PP when the game is still on the line, but when you are up 4-0 and KO'd the guy the last time they meet he at least owed him dance. I know Domber can throw them, and he should of tonight to endear himself even more to the faithful. He has played really well and is a playmaker.
I have not really seen Jorde call someone out to fight, but the last time these 2 teams meet Jorde fought Stewart and lost the fight. I am sure if he really wanted Stewart tonight he could of arranged for a rematch.

On a side note Blake, I liked the article tonight with the commish, but I took offense to a comment made by him when he said that those who wanted fighting really were not true hockey fans. That comment IMO show me his ignorance. Also Flint may have in their lineup Sunday Chad Wilcox who is a tough guy they signed out of the QSPHL.

Blake I was just thinking after the Rockford game Wed night that Jorde was a heck of a pickup. I really felt like when he was out there he had respect. I saw the same thing tonight. That is the kind of guy I like to have on the team, plus he can sure play some D.

I've followed the K's for most of my life, but this year I've finally gone off to college and have to miss most of the games (but I DID drive 7 hours round trip on Wednesday night after my classes got out to make the Rockford game and then get back here right afterwards).

From what I read on these Komet blogs and other articles in the papers, Jorde sounds to me like the kind of player that Shane Kenny was last year - and he was one of my favorites.

Does anybody have a remark of agreement or to the contrary?

I think Kenny was much more Brash, meaning, he would taunt the other players more and look for trouble. Jorde is very choosy in my opinion when it comes to fighting. Kenny would definitely take the body in checking more often to prove a point, too. Jorde is a better defender and better player overall. Kenny was hurt too much to really know what he was capable of. Kenny wouldn't let another teammate get thrashed and just stand by, he would jump in instantly. Jorde has done that once or twice this year only. He is more of a fight if I have to guy. I know Blake will disagree with this, and he has the right to do so.

I did and found that Familiar K and it looks like to me it is Guinn getting his A.. handed to him in that fight. Looked like the fight he had Wednesday except Voltera did not throw on him, this guy in the video started to lay the smack down on Guinn

I posted this on the other blog but might as well do it here too. David, that clip didn't even show Guinn fighting. It was #25 Tony Lawrence (as you put it, the guy getting his A handed to him), #3 Clint Cabana and #1 Davis Parley. Sorry to dissapoint.
