Prayers needed for Jason Baird

Muskegon Fury forward Jason Baird was critically injured in a landscaping accident Thursday near Youngstown.

Details of the accident were not immediately available.

``Everybody in the Muskegon Fury family is shocked by this news,” Fury coach Bruce Ramsay said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Jason and his family. If there's anything we can do as an organization, we will do it.”

From the Youngstown Vindicator:

A Youngstown Steelhound hockey player was seriously burned Thursday evening when the lawn mower that he was riding exploded.

Jason Baird, 27, of Cayuga, Ontario, was cutting grass for a part-time employer at the Westchester apartment complex near the intersection of Route 11 and Mahoning Avenue when the accident occurred.

He is listed in critical condition at the Akron Burn Center.

I know all hockey fans wish the very best for Jason. Komet fans know how tough players are. Jason is one of those very tough guys. We all pray for his recovery. May God bless his wife and children in their time of need.

i am jason aunt joanie and they have set up a web site from the hospital where jason's wife can write a daily journey which family, friends and fans can read about his progress and people can write him messages.
he is doing well on his long road to recovery
