Once might be considered a lark or a whim. Twice, the guy is serious about it:
A repeat police impersonator was convicted Wednesday night in his latest case, stemming from an incident in December 2008.
James Merket was found guilty of impersonating a police officer, a Class D felony.
Mr. Merker hasn't had the greatest luck in the world in his criminal career. He got busted this time when a real police offficer stopped to help who he thought was a real police officer making a traffic stop. The first time, his impersonation was discovered when he pulled over . . . an off-duty police officer.
Criminal genius!

No one ever said this guy was the brightest crayon in the box, did they?
Hell, we've got lots of "ex-police cars" (in the Summit City) being used AS BOOMCARS...how's that for raising the intimidation bar (when you "think" a cop is behind you)?
This 2-time perp needs a serious psych eval...and a different vehicle to drive to his "security" job.
Those Crown Vics stick out like a ...well, a police car.
(btw, something tells me he might not pass the police requirements)
But I suppose it COULD be worse...he COULD have had a penchant for AIRPLANES...
(helluva pilot...NOT)
