Project Komets Kare Package IV

Over the last three years, Fort Wayne hockey fans have donated more than 100 barrels of items to Project Komet Kare Package. The fourth year, sponsored by the Komets and The News-Sentinel, starts Saturday and continues next weekend.

On their way into games Saturday and Dec. 4 and 6, fans can drop off donations, which we make sure are delivered to troops with the help of National Guard representatives.

A little help can make a huge difference this holiday season for our armed forces serving overseas, and fans are asked to drop off items at the games. Items such as DVDs, baby wipes, candy, tissues, lip balm, toothpaste, sporting goods and underwear have made a tremendous impact for members of our armed forces.

Fans can check out the Web site www.anysoldier.com/WhatToSend.cfm for more information on what can and can't be sent. Drop items off at the games and we'll make sure they get to the troops as soon as possible.

See an interview with Master Sgt. Steve Kingsley of the Indiana National Guard can be seen here.
