Tailing the Komets

Quotes of the night

Jason Muzzatti: I don't think they took us lightly, and that helped. I expected that from Al and his team. I think that might have been advantage for us earlier on. Those first two games, they were a goal better and that's all it takes.

Nick Boucher: Winning and being around the guys in the room is what keeps bringing the older guys back. There's a real sense of family and belonging when you are on a tight-knit, close team like this.

Colin Chaulk: To win all four on home ice. We appreciate as players that we're spoiled, but you know what, the fans of Fort Wayne have been a litttle spoiled, too. We appreciate because we can't have the things that we have here if we don't have this support. Both the players and fans have been spoiled. We just hope they keep supporting us no matter what happens.

Matt Syroczynski: They're gameplan was to get all over me. Their D did a great job of going after me after the whistle and in front of the net, but my home is in the crease area. That's where I score most of my goals. During playoff time, there's no one who is going to stop me there.

Leo Thomas: It's a contagious thing. Once you have the veterans this team has, you're going to keep winning regardless. I think that's why they keep this core of guys that they do, so why change it?

Al Sims: I don't remember having to battle this hard, but you probably forget how hard you had to battle to win the last two. It never gets old. I think this one is unique because we had to beat a really good hockey team. They were the hottest team in the league and the hottest team in the playoffs and we found a way to get it done against them when nobody else could.

Maybe Bruce was drinking some beers with Burgee and his buddies before the game thinking that the IHL is still AAA.....???

Otherwise, FALSE.

Quad City would not surprise me to go to the CHL. With some other IHL teams for that matter. We'll have to wait and see.

Superfan is still awake??? LOL

Sun, 05/16/2010 - 6:22am

Only way the money grubbing Frankees will move the team to the next highest level is if we the fans say that we will not support another team that remains in this bush league for another year...and don't tell me that they can't afford it they made over $200,000 just on ticket sales alone last night.

Wow, Shorty. Um, classy. ;) Hey, if you're a Gens fan, your team played with tons of heart. You have nothing to be angry about in that respect. They rocked these playoffs. I was genuinely worried for a bit. I always believed, but I was a little worried that my faith was misplaced for about 12 minutes!

Hey, Blake, I got what I think is a pretty good shot of you and DSchebig out on the ice yakking at each other after the game. I'll send it to you both, or post it to my Facebook page and tag you both in it so you can see it and have it. I could not believe my luck to get you both standing there together. LOL....

And did Woods play last night? I got there in plenty of time, but the speakers were not very good in the corner I was able to get tickets. I could not hear who was a scratch. I thought it was him, since I never saw him out there one single time.

Sun, 05/16/2010 - 8:16am

Woods was our scratch

$200,000 fuzzy math, gimmie a break, if you're gonna be negative at least get somewhere in the ball park. Taking 10,000 people at $20 a pop just shows you have no clue. try again.

Thats why i hate blogs, you can throw all kinds of crap out there with no recourse and those that don't know any better will bite.

way to hide behind a fake name and post.

Sorry but some of the BS on here needs called out.

Sun, 05/16/2010 - 3:21pm

I agree, some of the BS does need called out.

They always forget the $2.50 the coliseum takes off the top of each ticket, too. Or the skybox tickets the Komets don't get anything for.

Sun, 05/16/2010 - 4:45pm

Interesting comment from Chaulker...

Congrats on the three cups! Now let's bring on the roller coaster of an off-season and see where and who we will be playing next year!!!!

Mon, 05/17/2010 - 5:34am

You'd think at $2.50/ticket they could fix the f'n sound system.

GM of the MC should be an elected position.

Mon, 05/17/2010 - 7:07am

Shorty-I am sure your a nice person, but you just go on and on and on and on. Your like a broken record. How about giving us all a break and go on vacation for a while. Take 3rdgoaround with you.

Sun, 05/23/2010 - 10:07pm

talk about a broken record? foo foos? pink pills? anti the best hockey possible in the best minor league hockey city ever! i can absolutely garuantee you that if mike and dave franke were still sitting in those seats as paying season ticket holders they would be begging for the AHL. GUARANTEED!

Mon, 05/24/2010 - 7:38am

Shorty--What Burgee and I do is between him and me. All you have in it is your out of joint nose. You, me and anyone else that cares should never put words in the Franke's mouth. They are adults who can speak for themselves. It is May 24, 2010 why not wait a few weeks and see what plays out after the Stanley Cup is determined. (GO BLACKHAWKS) At that time you all can go on and on and on again. Have a very good summer! I need one of Burgee's blue pills.

Mon, 05/24/2010 - 7:44am

This is where everyone keeps missing the point:

"the best minor league hockey city ever"

If it wasn't for the Komet machine, the entire package, in this day and age, there is no way we would be as high up in attendance numbers as were are.

Therefore it needs reworded:

The Komet machine makes it the best minor league hockey city ever

How much money is Rockford losing a year, and they had pretty good attendance numbers in the U.

Get ready Schebig its gonna be a looooooooong summer, i did get a great tan yesterday.

Mon, 05/24/2010 - 9:05am

Since the thread is labeled "Quote of the Night" I thought I would share my favorite quote of the year. It wasn't from a player, it was from one of the many "know it all, try to impress my girlfriend with my hockey knowledge" fans who happened to buy a ticket somewhere behind me.

Shortly after a second player had fallen to the ice, this fan uttered a "pearl of wisdom" of which I shall never forget.

He said, and I quote, " Gee, the ice must be slippery."

Mon, 05/24/2010 - 9:24am

Alan--That is very good and very funny. I will attest that it is slippery. Since I fell one time at hit my head rather hard on the ice. Come to think of it that may be the root of all my problems. Maybe it causes me to say (type) dumb things on occasions. Go ahead Burgee let me have it, the door is open wide! :)

Mon, 05/24/2010 - 9:26am

Alan: Not sure if the guy was being an idiot or just playing along. I know a lot of people in my section will yell out "Be careful! The ice is slippery tonight!" when players from the opposing team trip over the blue line. Hard telling.

Mon, 05/24/2010 - 11:55am

RunningKomet, this guy sounded as if he had just discovered something and couldn't wait to tell others. He was very serious.
