Huk is day-to-day with back spasms. He's going to the chiropractor today. Varone will play NYE. Stayzer can play on the 3rd.

Syroczynski is averaging 3-4 shifts per period. I don't know the AHL roster rules.

Of the 18 skaters (not counting two goaltenders) that teams may dress for a regular-season game, at least 13 must be qualified as "development players." Of those 13, 12 must have played in 260 or fewer professional games (including AHL, NHL, IHL and European elite leagues), and one must have played in 320 or fewer professional games. All calculations for development status are based on regular-season totals as of the start of the season.

Players who enter the season with fewer than 25 games of professional experience in North America (NHL or AHL) or fewer than 100 games of experience in a European elite league qualify as AHL rookies for the purposes of the Dudley "Red" Garrett Award, the Reebok/AHL Rookie of the Month award and the AHL All-Rookie team.

Thanks to both JR and Blake. Syro averaging 3-4 shifts per period is more playing time than I thought he would get. By the way, I had to read Blake's post twice as the AHL rules sure seem complicated. Some of those teams sure have a lot of players listed on their roster. Oh well, maybe we'll get to see Syro as playoff time approaches.

Missed the show when it was live but just listened to it. Good show Blake, informative and fun. The end was cut off I think, the post-show version ended just after Mrs. Schrock called in.

Since this in Syroczynski's 2nd PTO with Norfolk, he will either be an AHL free agent (returning to Fort Wayne) or the Admirals could sign him to an AHL contract when the PTO's 25 games are up. Matt's played in six games since signing the 2nd PTO.
