Mirasty has just 1 game left correct? If so what has to happen?

I hope that we get to see him play at home on Friday!

They just sign him to a regular contract. Then they have to do some roster moves to make room because right now he does not count against the active roster.

K's just released Musselwhite, not a surprise with the team playing so well and APOD in the wings.

Is Miratsy here after his 5 day is over or is his lack of PT just a portent of things to come?

Mirasty is here for the rest of the season even after his 5 game contract ends. Lack of playing time...Hell he's an enforcer and isn't going to be skating 20 minutes a game. He knows his job and is fine with it and understands it.

Hoosierman have you not listened or read anything. Here's a brief synopsis.
1. He is a role player, doesn't skate regular shifts, never has in his career.
2. He's been riding the bench the last month and doesn't have his playing legs yet.
3. His job is not to skate with the skill players, he has 2 goals in the last four years.
If you were hoping for more than I'm sorry to disappoint you. The Komets are not going to give up someone like OC on a regular basis for Nasty. It just ain't going to happen and no one including him expects that.
He is on the team for one reason and it seems to be working.

From what we've been told, he's supposed to be here the rest of the season. We've never been told that with Ratchuk.

I realize he is a role player but I thought he was sent here to get more playing time. He has done a great job of protecting the skill players.

Blake Sebring

That could very well happen HM, but when the games are 1-0 or 2-0, he's going to get less playing time because there's less need for protection. The opponents are also going to be wary of taking an extra penalty in that situation as well. I think he'll get more playing time as the Komets get in a few less close games.

Though I like that Mirasty brings toughness and protection for others and excitement for some fans, I think it's kind of a waste of a roster spot. It is ridiculously obvious that he's a one-dimensional player. Enforcers/Goons are a dying breed. So we keep Mirasty who has a handful of points in the past several seasons and let go a guy that has blazing speed and has the ability to put the puck in the net. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

It'll make sense when Thomas, Lardner, and Chaulk are all laying on the ice injured from cheapshots and boarding penalties that Mirasty helps deter.

Exactly, especially when we play the original CHL that actually play a tough game... Not much to worry about from the former IHL2 teams...

A guy like Mirasry doesn't need to be on the ice to deter cheap shots. His presence on the bench will stop most of that. It will be nice to have that goon on our bench come playoff time.

Just like Blake said...teams are going to be less likely to go out there and goon it up in close games because it will potentially cost their team on the scoreboard. Down the stretch and in the playoffs games are going to be tighter...so he's going to be riding the pine taking up a roster spot...or maybe he'd even be a healthy scratch. Plus, I really don't remember Thomas, Lardner, or Chaulk laying on the ice from cheapshots and boarding penalties before Mirasty got here. Like I said, I appreciate and like the toughness and security...my beef is just that he's so one-dimensional. That's just my opinion..

Granbois jumped Lardner after a good check and just started throwing while Lardner was down...

Lardner had to fight Steven Crampton on the southern trip, when he shouldnt have had to....

Leo has taken some cheap shots behind the play this season...

Chaulk, Lardner and Thomas are all hard hitting skill guys. Its part of thier game and what helps make them successful. Knowing that they can still play that style while having a guy or two on the ice or bench to cover thier rear ends is a value beyond measure. Think Crampton or Granbois would have thought twice if a guy like Mirasty was on the bench???

Penalties can be killed off; but the space an instigator penalty can create is priceless for our skill guys... IMO...

it seems that Mr "Nasty" could/should set up in front to draw 2 defenders. that would "buy" him more playing time & give guys who are "skaters" more room to play to their strengths...

Yeah, but Nasty and Six-gun Sugden are homeboys. No killer bloodbath brewing there.

This nutjob wont last long..... This is a guy who definitely shouldnt be skating in a legitamite league...

I think someone said he lasted 2 periods the last time he played in the states before getting a lifetime ban from the ECHL....

An interesting fight video :)
My MMA buddies had told me this fall that he wanted to win a cup before he retires.

With the signing of Sugden can we also sign Charbonneau?

The life-long ban was issued in back in 2001 and overturned. He had drug and alcohol problems but has been sober for many years now, is married and has children.

Here is an interesting article about him in "The New York Times" from 2008 when the Islanders invited him to training camp.

NOT FUNNY, I may be able to set up a fight in the cage with him, if you are game.
