Tailing the Komets

Rest in peace, Mike Nichols

Long-time Komets fan Mike Nichols passed away today after a long, long battle with cancer. I don't know if I ever met anybody who fought harder.

Mike was the fan who inspired Guy Dupuis two years ago when the Komets trailed Port Huron 3-1 in that series. Guy invited Mike into the locker room after the game to drink from the Turner Cup.

He was a special man.

I knew Mike and his wife through my work... never met nicer people. Rest in peace, Mike. Hate to lose you but at least your struggle is over.

So sorry to hear this. :( I didn't know him either, but I did read Blake's article mentioned above. And yes, as BLB said, it is always sad to lose another Komets fan or a good and kind human being for that matter.

We dedicated last nights win to him. I never knew anyone who had such a great attitude considering what he was going through for so many years. He beat the odds against him for so long. We will all miss you Mike.
