Opening Arguments

RomneyCare

Let's scratch him from the list of presidential candidates to root for:

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who presided over the passage of a health care overhaul nearly identical to the federal overhaul is still defending his state-based starter-version of ObamaCare.

[. . .]

According to The Boston Globe, Romney blames poor implementation by his Democratic successors for some of the law's failures. Apparently, it was all their fault that a law that set up a system of generous middle class insurance subsidies, enabled easy system gaming, and expanded Medicaid rolls ran dramatically over budget—and, according to the state officials, put patients and businesses across the state at risk of bankruptcy.

Of course, Romney also wants everyone to know he thinks the federal overhaul that was modeled on the plan he signed into law is a really, really bad idea—despite the fact that the White House has been happy to highlight the similarities between the two plans.

If he either, A) can't recognize such a spectacularly bad idea or, B) admit it when he has one, we shouldn't want him anywhere near the White House.

Mittens will not be able to overcome "RomneyCare" just as Barry's demise will be due in large part to "ObamaCare".

Um, Tim, by "Barry's demise," are you predicting Obama (I'm not on first-name terms with him, as you seem to be) will lose in 2012? If so, I propose a wager.
It's not enough to point to poll numbers and a poor economy to predict his "demise." You have to have a candidate who can beat him. Who do you have in mind?
The Tea Party will block a moderate in the primary, and independents won't support an extremist in the general. Remember presidents Goldwater and McGovern? That appears to be your situation.

Littlejohn, I couldn't care less about all the speculation on who will be the nominee, or why some will or why some won't.

My position has been (for some time now) it doesn't matter who opposes Teh One in the election, they will beat him. He won't be able to run on his record and garner support except from the 25% truest hard left whackjob socialists, so he'll have to rely on more "Hope & Change" rhetoric and that simply won't fly with the boondoggle of ObambiCare, 20% true unemployment, $5 a gallon gasoline, trillion dollar spending spree's etc.

Polls and opinions 2 years out about "possible" candidates are meaningless.

Mickey Mouse, if nominated, will be able to beat him.

Wow, I admire your confidence. The polls don't show that. I think you may be confusing what you'd like with what is likely.
Forget about Mickey Mouse; I don't think he's a citizen. Who in the GOP can both win the nomination and beat Obama? I think Romney would have a chance in the general, but you and Leo are examples of why he'd have trouble getting nominated. Which pony are you betting on?

As I noted before, polls today don't mean sh*t a year and half from now.

Polls showed Teh Organizer didn't stand a chance against Hillary either, remember? I appreciate your eagerness (like all loyal progressives) to get everyone on record early so you can chastise them as they fall off during primaries though.

Carry on.
