Naurato and Patrosso wanted to play on the same team. Does that mean Patrosso is going next?

Bummer, I was looking forward to seeing some stuff from Naurato / Patrosso combo. I guess something has to be done, and if cutting heads will wake em up lets do it. I am a little shocked that we couldn't get anything for him. Can't wait for some other team to pick him up and watch him get 5 goals in 10 games. Just wait.

Not upste by this...he wasn't producing but still not the fix this team needs. Hopefully this is just the start of moving people who don't produce.

Face value I am upset about this. Cutting a 25 year old with skill instead of one of the geriatric crew or Oliver "Please sir can I play some more" doesn't fit in with what I want to see this team do.
That being said I am not in the lockeroom. I don't know how hard he has been working. If they cut him, I have to believe they know what they are doing.

I think this does send a message. Naurato was brought in to be a scorer and he isn't producing. So hopefully this will tell others that if I'm not producing, I might be gone the next day.

Legault was brought in to be an enforcer. They only thing he has enforced is the seating chart in section 227.

I don't really care that BN got cut. But it sends a message, PC aint going anywhere... no matter how little effort he puts out. If I'm sitting in the lockerroom I'm looking to get a part-time gig with a sponsor. As long as you work for a sponsor it appears your spot on the roster is solid.

Wasn't PC one of the first guys they signed this summer? They must've really wanted him and for some reason they really want to hang on to him. I agree though, at least in the games, I haven't seen a reason as to why. Who knows though, I'm not in the locker room. I do know, however, that no points are scored in the locker room, especially from someone who doesn't even shoot the puck. What's 71% of 0?

Naurato and Patrosso are buddies and both came to FTW so they could play on the same team. Is this a wake up call for Patrosso that he better pick it up or else? So far, Naurato was one of the "invisible" players on the ice, but he isn't the one I thought would be waived first. Also a bit surprised that he couldn't be traded, and I am assuming this makes things more comfortable for some of the long time K's with ties. Have a feeling we may see Naurato back at the Coliseum in a different jersey, and here's hoping that he is still "invisible" when he comes back to play against us.

I hate to break it to you, but the whole Komet team is "invisible"

Wendy

Well, to be fair, shooting the puck and getting shots on goal are two different things. They only count shots that the goalie had to block as a shot on goal. If you shoot and it goes or gets tipped wide, doesn't count. If you ring it off the post, doesn't count. If someone other than the goalie blocks it in front, doesn't count. Now I haven't been there to watch, but I would assume that he's taken at least a few shots. Obviously not nearly enough.

Well, to be fair, since you arent going to any games, have you at least read any of Blake's posts? Go all the way back to nearly two weeks ago on the 4th when he spoke of PC having three shots on goal over his last four games, and there hasnt been a whole lot more production since. I can appreciate you being a fan of his, which is much easier to do when you aren't at the games watching him lazily lumber from one end of the ice to the other, not even attempting to make anything happen. However, for those of us who are actually at the games and see his lack of effort each game, it has gotten beyond frustrating. I'm thinking most people also understand what a shot on goal is, also, but thanks for the explanation.

Look, PC is a really nice guy to talk to, at least he has been the few times Ive bumped into him, but that doesnt exactly mean I want to keep SEEING his lack of effort each game, and I dont think most others who have seen it and can speak from experience actually do either.

I agree that Naurato hadn't done much, but there is one player on the team who is always giving the puck away and it always out there when the other team scores. My question is why does the coach see so much talent from Brandon Warner. He is a worthless player and should be GONE!!!!!!

I do, what is Komet Hockey without a less than 71% effort that is endorsed by management?

They are ok with half-hearted efforts. So why should we care?

The moves made so far do not make this a better team. IMO.

Window dressing in moving letters on and off jerseys.

Waiving a younger player, who I admit isn't playing well, but higher priced veteran players remain on the roster which would limit your ability to sign a decent player and get him under the salary cap.

The Cancer on this team needs waived, then use his money to bring back Captain Chaulk.

Stop wasting time, get 'er done.

What about the young Russian they brought in?

Blake, can this kid help the team?

I don't think getting rid of Naurato is the answer

It would be interesting to see if Chaulk could compete in the CHL, unlike those on the current roster. Even if he could one player isn't going to turn this around. With few exceptions former IHL players are non factors on current CHL teams.Unless I missed someone of the top ninety in CHL scoring currently past IHL players total seven in number. Last year in the IHL these seven finished in scoring as follows:
Todd Robinson #1/Nicklas Lindberg#9/Chrsi Lipsett#11/John Snowden #17/Zac Pearson#29 and Obi Aduba #62.Late season pick up Mario Larocque is the seventh currently in the top ninety. As I wrote some time ago, it is obvious ownership under estimated the talent required to compete in this league. While entertaining,it is apparent the last few years the IHL was an inferior league compared to the CHL. This year will continue to be a painful learning experience for everyone.

It would be nice if they moved PC or GUy but I have a feeling with their other jobs they don't count against the cap as much as you would think. Just looking at pure salary not the other perks!!!

Hit the post you are spot on. The problem is that this team was put together as if it were going to play in the IHL not the CHL. The speed, passing ability is better (not much but better) and the officals call the game much more closely.

The powers that be missed the boat on this one. The Franke's assumed that a collection of the IHL's best would at worst case be a middle of the road team in the CHL and they were wrong.

Can it be fixed? Yes.. there is about 75% of the schedule to be played, will we runaway with the whole thing no but with short series in the first 2 rounds anything can happen.

Blake does the "freeze" the 22-26 cover all transactions or just trades.

RK, sure any hockey fan worth their weight in pucks should know what SOGs are, but I think people tend to forget that it doesn't mean the player isn't taking any shots at all. Actually, it doesn't mean that they did make a shot either, but that's what's fun about it. And I know for a fact that P.C. took at least one shot at an empty net in the games we're talking about, but it went wide. Like I said, obviously he isn't taking enough shots, because if he was, at least a few of them show up as SOGs. And yes, I do read every word that Blake and all the other "bloggers" have written in this (and the other) blog. And all Blake has ever said is that P.C. hasn't had any SOGs lately and that he needs to make an effort to shoot the puck.

Every transaction.

OK, if this team so underestimated the CHL, then why are Dayton and Bloomington and QC doing better with essentially the same rosters as last year? Why is Evansville doing OK with what is a much worse roster than last year in Muskegon?

with all due respect, i think some of you are forgetting the last sentence in the post. "Naurato has contacted me to say he asked to be released. He said the reasons were personal."

Blake - good point on the other "IHL" teams and Evansville. Everyone would like to think this league is soo much more superior. I do not buy it.

I think "Hit" is spot on.. locker room. crybabies? maybe. Attitudes? perhaps.. Somehow I think the team is divided.

If that is the case, maybe the komets really are only a couple players away from making a run. Pull the locker room together and hopefully we can string together a few more wins.. Just hope it isn't already too late to make a serious run at it.

To respond to Blakes question, I think the biggest difference is in the coaching department.

Bloomington: Christie a guy with alot of playing and coaching experience was brought in this season due to his experience in developmental leagues...

Dayton: Gratz, a young guy who started volunteer coaching in the ECHL and then to a college (I believe) then to low level A league's where the players are normally younger. He's young and driven and that shows in his teams style.

Quad City: Anzalone spent one year in the IHL2; but coached in college and juniors primarily before that.

E-Ville: Krom spent only one year in the IHL2 also and before that coached in the WHL a high juniors league that see's alot of NHL draft picks for the previous 3 years.

I think these teams had a much easier transition to the current style of play in the CHL due to thier coaches recent coaching past. Right now the K's look like the old guy in the neighborhood yelling at everybody that drives by for going too fast...

As far as the former IHL teams doing well in this league goes, I would agree on that front. If the other teams are doing so well, the Komets should be at the top of the standings. Doesn't make any sense, does it? I don't know what it is, but it seems that the CHL is kryptonite to Sims. It would be interesting to see players on this team go to another CHL team. I bet they would do some damage.
