Tailing the Komets

Roster moves coming

Talked to David Franke today and he said the Komets will activate David Starenky before Friday's game in Rapid City, which means someone else has to go on IR. Two thoughts on this: They better activate Starenky considering how well he played in RC the last time. The second thought is that right now the Komets aren't looking to make any major additions/subtractions to the roster. They love the group they have, and the chemistry in the locker room is exceptional at this time. One player told me it was just like it was two years ago when the Komets expected to win every night and contend for a title.

Also, Chris Auger told me his donations for Movember are up to $500, so basically it doubled after we put the mug shots on the blog. Thank you and great job! He's thrilled with the progress. Though the campaign also worked as an excellent team-bonding exercise, the rest of the guys can't wait shave it all off in a few days.

Can everyone hear those criquets?

I don't think you can hear "criquets" unless there are a lot of people playing separate games in a very quiet area.

Correct word Blake but in a different language. Guy would get it right away.

Patrick, having seen what Narauto and OC have done playing against us, I would certainly hate to trade Schrock. I think he will turn it around soon

I think we are one more solid experienced Dman away still. Icing games with 2-3 rookies on d every night does not equal playoff success.

IMO, defense is fine, they are coming together slowly; but surely...

I think we need a big bodied forward with a nack for planting himself in front of the net, taking the abuse to screen the goalie with enough touch to pick up a garbage goal or two along the way...

Isn't that what Smith has been doing. It seems that I'm seeing him in front of the goalie alot. When someone takes a slap shot from the blue line, many times you will see him jump in the air to let the puck come through and still block the goalie's vision. He has gotten several goals on rebounds in front of the net. He is leading by example and it would be nice to see others follow his lead and do the same. Smith is a welcome addition to the team that provides excellent leadership.

Smith has been doing it and I love how he plays; but he's not screening the goalie all that much, picking up some garbage points yes... Let's face it, the guy isnt that big...

We need that big bodied guy that can stand there and make the goalie go out of his way to look around him for the shot... IMO...

The thing is, they have to be somebody who can skate to work well with the defense and the forecheck because right now that's what the Ks are dominating in. They can't afford some slug who slows them down. Maybe Bennefield will do some of that when he comes back. They were using Kaleigh at that last Thursday quite a bit.
