Roster update

Pretty much the same lineup tonight as last weekend, except Ryan Potts is playing tonight. He was out of town last weekend on a family outing.

Brandon Warner has been played on a 45-day non-roster spot, and Olivier Legault on the 30-day injured reserve. Dominic Osman and Danko Mironovic are not expected to play tonight, but both made the road trip. Potts is taking Osman's spot on the roster, so if Osman can play Saturday or Sunday, Potts is ineligible. The Komets had to get permission from the league to sign Potts to an emergency contract, just as they did last weekend with Adam Lewis.

Jake Pence might be ready to play Wednesday in Bloomington, and goaltender Sebastien Laplante has been going full-bore in practice and might be ready to come off IR on Wednesday as well.

Ay, ai ai. You have GOT to have a chapter about this in a book someday, Blake. Good luck to Potts. I didn't get to see him play during the preseason, so I was hoping he'd get called up for a home game at some point. Not sure if I should be saying that now, though, with the way things have been going!

Blake, any word from the League on the knee to knee hit by Snowball to Osman? I believe it was a lot worse than Lagault's check from behind. Snowball is just plain dirty.

The league did not deem it a dirty hit and no further suspension was necessary.

Any word about Mac Blake?

They just said he wasn't ready yet this weekend. I don't know if he's had a history of concussions or not, but that could affect how long he's out.

Can anybody say where Lewis was last night? Komets should have won with all the missed opportunities in the first. What was Sims thinking on the shootout? Dupuis on the shootout? He played terrible all night- took to many dumb penalties.

Was in Kzoo last night. Sat right on the glass in center of bench. Hawthorne makes me sick, he is such an idiot and ruins the game. Huck gets a misconduct, now how often does that happen, if it was a different ref it wouldn't have happened, hawthornes poor officiating lets games deteriorate, hawthorne is terrible.

Had a great time, our friends took us to the game for our christmas present. We stayed at the residence inn off of Portage and ate at Field Stone Grill south of 94 just east of 131, hotel was nice, had a fireplace in the room and the food was great, believe it or not i don't think they charge enough for their food there.

i thought the K's did a great job hustling all night, they kept nailing guy against the boards sometimes with 2 guys, i think they were trying to put him out of the game. Boucher played out his tail, i thought he did great.

I just think they looked really good and if we can get healthy come playoff time and get everyone back we are going to pound people.

The Kzoo locals were very nice and wished us a safe trip home, there was only 1 drunk idiot but you will get that anywhere you go.

Lots of K's fans there.

Guy has always had an excellent shootout move. Nobody else has scored, so why not give him a try?

No offense to Guy or to you Blake but, your comment that Guy has always had an excellent shootout move is hilarious!! There is no "move". All he does is skate down slowly, straight down the ice and takes a slap shot. How is that excellent? He makes no moves, deeks or even trys to make the goalie commit and his shot is not very hard anymore. I can understand if he could blow it by the goalie, but not anymore. Just my opinion.

He has an excellent shootout move? Where was it last night? I didn't see it. To slow and always predictable with the slapshot. Definitely wouldn't have been my last pick for the 3rd try.

It is sooo hard for me to hear ppl complain about Guy. Just count how many minutes he plays a night- well over 45. And he has always had the same slap shot, and always is in the top 15 scoring in the league- putting him against forwards who SHOULD be scoring. He is 38 years old, and is the #1 defenseman... again! And Blake is so right- Guy has always been a player they have used in shoot outs. I, too, sat behind the bench last night. Those guys buckled down and played their hearts out, and were whipped. I was very impressed with all 4, yes- only 4, defensemen, who played every other shift. We joked that Guy fought so he could breathe for 5 minutes. Guy is the captain and in that position for a reason. Multiply his minutes played by his stats and compare it to anyone in any league and see what you get.
And while I am on the bandwagon, let's start cheering louder for our boys and drown out the "fair weather" fans. They are still our favorite team that we all cheered for 25 home wins in a row. We just got a little spoiled. Thanks, Blake, for all your rooting and fair reporting.

Over the last two years before last night, Guy was 4 of 8 in shootouts, and during the late 90s, he and Lee Davidson were the best on the team. How HILARIOUS is that? Maybe he didn't use the move last night. I didnt' get to see since I was covering basketball games, but he does have an excellent move.

Krazy, I admit Guy has been money for this organization for a long time. I'm not trying to rip on Guy either, I just think there are better options for a shootout. Being a "C" does not mean you automatically should be in the shootout lineup. 45 minutes per game?????? Didn't know anyone in any league skated that many minutes. I did think it was BS because it sure looked like Kzoo was targeting #2 last night with their checks into the boards

Blake what "move" are you talking about? And I'm being serious, not trying to be a smart alec.

He used to be really good at coming in on the forehand to pull the goalie to that side and then whipping it back to his backhand to shove it in. Harley had the same move, and so did Mitch Messier. I'll bet I've seen him score with it 20 times over the years.

Ok thanks!! Kinda sounds like Varone's move (which is pretty sweet, I might add)

Guy's was really good because he always went in slow, so the goaltender always thought he was actually going forehand, and he has such a long reach with his stick. It wasn't as fluid as Messier's which was impossible to stop, but it was very effective. Maybe he didn't trust the quality of the ice last night and just decided to fire.

My biggest pet peeve with shootouts is guys who go in way too fast and then run out of room and options because they can't slow down and adjust.

Hey Krazy- don't think many of us were COMPLAINING about Guy. We understand that he plays a lot of minutes and is old. We just said that he wouldn't be our first choice as our third shooter. Don't take it personally.
