Roy Chin's obituary

KAROL "ROY" CHIN, 74, of Fort Wayne, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009, at his home. Born in Jamaica, he was an Engineer with Inter-national Harvester for 28 years, retiring in 1994. He was actively involved in youth sports; he spent 49 years as a hockey official, volunteering his time to mentoring others. He is survived by his sons, Colin (Diane) Chin and Todd (Gretchen) Chin, both of Fort Wayne, Rodd (Kelly) Chin and, Randy (Amy) Chin, both of New Haven and Gordy Chin of Huron, Ohio; brother, Earl Chang of New York, N.Y.; and 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Taylor, Miriah, Kayla, Alex, Cullen, Cole, Cassie, Katie and Jaden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Humphrey and Lelan Chin; wife, Sidnette Chin; and grandson, Owen Chin. Mass of Christian Resurrection is 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Jude Catholic Church, E. State Blvd. at Randallia Drive, with calling one hour prior. Father Thomas Shoemaker officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with Vigil at 4:30 p.m. Memorials to Fort Wayne Youth Hockey c/o Fort Wayne Officials Association or Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.
