You're a lousy, conservative, scumbag warmonger, and, oh, by the way, would you please speak at our meeting?
His words echoed those of NAACP chairman Julian Bond, who spoke Sunday and blasted the war in Iraq and attacks on voting rights — even as he urged President Bush to attend the group's convention.
"This year the convention has come to the president and we hope and pray he is coming to us," said Bond, speaking about a mile from the White House.
Classy.

I haven't yet heard any of the NAACP talking heads promise they'll behave (this time) if Mr. Bush accepts. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.
In fact, NAACP spokespersons show definite signs of avoiding the topic of the NAACP's own behavior should Mr. Bush attend. If they're going to accuse Mr. Bush of not "acting rightly" for snubbing them, they cannot avoid their own burden of responsibility to act rightly if Bush relents and shows up for them.
This may be a better example of irony (see your 7/18 post) for Our Only President and Chief Grammatical Officer.
