Tailing the Komets

Rumor central

I saw on intotheboards.net that somebody had posted a rumor that Andy  Bezeau had been talking with the Komets about a comeback, so I asked Komets General Manager David Franke about it. He said he hasn't talked to Andy in over two years.

The last time I talked to Andy, about two years ago also, he was helping his dad with his underwater welding company and loving  being a husband and father. He also had some pretty severe shoulder injuries from all the banging that would surely limit any comeback. He hasn't played since one game in 2000-01.

Franke also said that Jeff Worlton didn't want to report to Roanoke  because he wants to play with Stockton of the ECHL for his old coach Chris Cichocki who was his coach with Cincinnati of the ECHL. Roanoke ran Worlton through UHL waivers. That also means the Komets won't get anything for the trade.

Andy back with the K's would have been cool to see. I'm not sure he would get to play though. He too would be a healthy scratch every night, wouldn't he? I have to say, good games tonight by Jorde, Galbraith, and Goodwin. Great job guys!!! All have been struggling this year, all showed us something tonight, finally. Got to give credit where credit is due. Hope they can keep it going as we need all the effort and good play we can get. Kelly Miller is really putting together a good season for a guy who was a last ditch addition.
Any news out there about possible additions or trades coming down the pike, or is this the end of the Merry-go-Round?
Go Colts on Sunday. Hope the game gets over before the Komets play.

Komets are probrably happy he didn't return. If they had taken a player they would be over the limit again. Plus it wss nice to see Summerfield get three shifts in the third peoriod. Where was he at the rest of the game. I guess he fougt the other game so that makes him the goon who only skates 3 shifts.

dont know if andy would be good for us. as much as i like a guy to bang the boards and drop the gloves, andy in the last couple of years became a very dirty player. i remember his last year with the komets he sucker punched a guy in a brawl and broke his face. i lost lots of respect for him that night.

Blake, this is a totally random question that just occured to me. I could've sworn I saw former Komet Dan Price last night down by the locker room, and it made me wonder: which former Komets that have played with the team within the past 5 years do you know of that still live in the Fort Wayne area? I remember a bunch of former Komets played in the Hurricane Katrina fundraiser last September, but do they all still live in Fort Wayne?

I have to agree with Hit Somebody, that Goodwin, Jorde, and Galbraith all showed fantastic effort last night. I have to give major kudos to Goodwin for his 2 goals and 1 assist. Upper Section 205 was rooting the loudest for you, Goodwin!! LOL

Oh, and a great job to Summerfield, too, for his almost-a-goal last night! I was hoping to see his first Komets goal last night, but, hey, there's always Sunday's game too!

Laurie,
I'm not really sure. I know Derek Gauthier was at the game last night. I think Dan Price is around, I know Adam Lewis, Kelly Perrault, Bertram, Hurd, Duffus, Logan. Nemeth is in Dayton, Severson, Townsend, Barlow and Rodberg are in school, I heard Mike McKay was in Warsaw, but that was a while ago. Judson in Toledo, F. Bouchard, Corpse and B. Stewart are back in Canada. That's about it off the top of my head.

Overall, including the IHL guys, there are more than 80 former Komets who live in the immediate area. I'm probably better on the IHL guys than the UHL guys.

I'm personally holding out for Merv Dubchak to come back. Or John Ferguson, that way the Ks could get the fighting and the scoring.

Interesting! Thanks for the update! Very cool to see where former K's have ended up. Over 80 former Komets living around the area? I had no idea there were that many.

I loved last year's team, so thanks particularly for the update on Townsend, Rodberg, and Nemeth!

The broken nose belonged to Norm Batherson. It was not a brawl either. Save was made and the whistle blew. Batherson and Bezeau exchanged looks and before Batherson could say a word he got jacked up. Dirty.

I think he's talking about the game against San Antonio. There was a brawl behind the K's net and Bezeau came out of nowhere, pulled a guy out of the pile (Scott Hollis) and gave him one uppercut, broke his jaw. Total cheapshot.

Bawa was tied up with Hollis in the corner and they were both spent, leaning over but holding on when Bezeau skated up and gave Hollis an uppercut. Anybody remember how that all started?

Bezeau was skating behind the San Antonio net and he speared the goaltender in the knee from behind. Who was the goaltender? Bruce Racine.

We have plenty of Bezeau "cheapshots" to choose from. Simple mistake. No need to get all fired up about it dad.
