I hope the Odessa team wasn't late to church on Sunday because of this! What an innocent group of chaps who were targeted and taken advantage of by a bunch of bullies. (My eyes hurt from rolling)

JM - I find it funny that you were just saying that you were going to wait to see the video to see what really happened before judging Mac. Sounds to me like you are judging the Odessa team before you have seen the video.

There were 13 fights. I have a hard time believing that either side was as innocent as the Odessa owner makes it sound.

Before I demonize and individual for their actions, I'd like to have proof.

I only commented on a publicly made statement from the owner.

JM- i like your posts as well as everyone else. Im torn between both sides. But we are beating a dead horse here. No video has surfaced yet, and the chl will make a statement today i read. I have alot of respect for mac. And i really dont believe i ever seen him goon it up, even for the holloween game!!

Odd that no decent fan video has come out. People have phone and other cams everywhere these days. Only links on Youtube I see are virus spam links, not actual videos

Maybe a different angle to this discussion; but why isnt the way the officials let this game get sooooo far out of hand being discudssed??? I'm not blaming them for what ultimately happened; but maybe it doesnt happen if the ref's say enough is enough and get heavy handed with penalties to regain control of the game...

The more I read, the more I think this was just a total lack of control from the officials, coaches and players... Besides the suspensions, I think a total review of the game needs to happen..

Let's face it, the game is flawed when you are asking one man to referee 12 players at a time. It's set up to fail.

I was hoping that this league would adopt the 2 referee system.

To add:
The officials mechanics state that the Referee must maintain site of the puck at all times. So how can a single referee watch the puck and what is going on behind him? Yes the linesman are there but they have limited ability to call penalties so even if the linesman tells the referee " hey that guy just elbowed Mac behind the play" the penalty won't normally be called.
With 2 referees you have a "lead/trail" system like you see in 2 man basketball where when the puck is not in the officials primary area his job is to watch what is going on off the puck.
It still will not prevent everything but you have a much better chance on cleaning up the nonsense behind the play.

Mr. Snufflupugus,

Having two referees is something I have mentioned several times before, each time I've been told it will never happen because of the costs involved.

I would like to see it introduced on at least a trial basis, have each team play perhaps 12 games during the regular season, and during the playoffs like the NHL did before they adopted the two referee system.

Just found this from the CBS affiliate in Odessa, as posted last night: http://www.cbs7kosa.com/news/details.asp?ID=21976

It doesn't actually show the hit to Van Drunen. It's the brawl, along with (I'm assuming, since it's a small video) Van Drunen crouched on the ice. It's the most I've seen so far.

...Mac gets 22 games

All I have to say about all this... Mac is an adult, he should of known the line he crossed. It is a shame that he has gone further down this path, and part of me wonders if Fort Wayne didn't help feed the monster (we had wanted t-shirts as part of marketing).

Check out the CHL determination--Brad has a 22 game suspension. Both teams were fined. They evidently saw many things from the tape that showed both teams were involved and it wasn't just a goon event. WHEW--wish all the best to Brad and his family.

It is my opinion that the majority of you people are Very disloyal, have little to do and are a bit slow.. try to use a little discretion when sharing your opinions on things you know nothing of and never saw.

It would seem obvious what is going on... Open your eyes

Your loss is our gain.
