Why isn't Festa listed on the gamesheet? Is he at the game?

Yes, he was there last night, too. It's likely just a clerical error.

Its amazing to me how a so called Komet fan can walk up the bench during a timeout and tell the entire Komet bench that Boucher sucks. If you love sterling so much...move to Dayton. You are disgrace to the true Komet fans.

So, do you think they are playing better tonight? Can you tell a difference?

Sat, 01/07/2012 - 8:54pm

Well, it sounds like to me they are playing a lot more physical. Still sounds like defense is sketchy and not moving their feet because of the hooking, holding, and tripping penalties. The third period should be interesting, need to go out and play to win and don't play not to lose.

Blake,
My thought on the whole issue with struggling against the bottom teams is this: Good teams beat the teams they are supposed to beat and then have a respectable record against other good teams. And yes, the ultimate responsibility for beating the teams you are supposed to beat lies with the coach just as it does with any manger or director in other professions. This responsibility becomes amplified when you have more skilled employees or players as your competitors. Now are you going to win every game or outperform every competitor every time, even with better talent, no. But the majority of the time you should. This is where we have lacked this year. We have had some very good games where we have shown how we CAN play but we have consistantly left an awful lot of points on the table when we just don't play up to potential. Again, it is up to the leader (coach) to make sure that their team consistenly plays up to potential.

I'm not judging whether Sims is a good or bad coach but the bottom line is that he, as the coach, should be held accountable for his team underperforming just as he should be praised when they perform to potential.

Janice, don't waste your breath on her. She isn't worth it.

I was right there at the aisle next to her when she did it. I said I wouldn't post on here anymore but her obsession with Tim haun and hatred for bouch has gone far enough. Its annoying and it was childish. If your going for attention well you got it and about 200 komet fans saw it and felt the same way as Janice and I. Either support the team or stay home.

"Now are you going to win every game or outperform every competitor every time, even with better talent, no. But the majority of the time you should. This is where we have lacked this year."

I'm trying to understand the lacking part, no other team in the league has won more games then we have.

"Again, it is up to the leader (coach) to make sure that their team consistenly plays up to potential."

No other team in the league has lost fewer games then we have. One team has lost two in OT instead of regular time to our one thus they are one point ahead of us. Compared to the rest of the league I would say the Komets are playing consistently well overall.

Yes, there have been lapses, and there will continue to be or else they would win every game, something that isn't going to happen in professional hockey at any level and especially in a AA league where rookies are going to both run into walls or excel in their development. That applies to every rookie on every team thus a team can improve in performance through the season, or decrease compared to the others.

I'm childish and annoying for having a favorite and voicing my opinion???? I guess it's so much different than the FW fans voicing their opinion of Larry???? Hmmmmm......

Sun, 01/08/2012 - 1:17am

And support the team or stay home???? Ummmmm, I WAS supporting a team. It just wasn't the same team you happened to be supporting. If you're so easily offended by my yelling at Bouche in Dayton then don't go to Dayton???

RunningKomet

If Bouch sucks, Larry must be downright horrible. Look at the stats, who wins league honors, has a higher save percentage, and can actually stay with the same team for more than a season?

I will say this though, just like what Larry expressed in the earlier article, I highly doubt Boucher gave half a squirt about anything that was yelled at him. Again, these guys have thick skin and are good at ignoring obnoxious people that yell at them. Larry ignores us supposedly and Boucher ignores those that don't like him. In addition, the refs ignore everyone, even the other teams' players taking cheap shots on our Komets during the games.

i have to wonder... what did bouche do to jerseygirl to make her have such an odd and unfounded hatred for him? or what didnt he do maybe..? not trying to be rude, just genuinely curious.

i am not a fan of any obnoxious fan, no matter if they are yelling at larry or bouche. at the end of the day, i am there to support my team, not tear down the opponent and especially not my own team's players. it is a shame jerseygirl and other attention-hungry fans can't do the same.

on that note: go komets!

poor boucher, just what he needs, an individual with a grudge. so jerseygirl, fill us in on your reasoning so the rest of the 100,000 (opinion estimate people) komet fans can be enlightened and grab our torch and pitch forks at the next komet game and riot with you.

Steve,

You bring up some good points and you are correct....we do have a great record and yes, overall, we do play consistently. The original discussion on the previous thread however, was about how we have played recently against teams like Bloomy and Dayton who are at the bottom of the standings. If you have watched those games, we have played totally different than when we play other teams and our 2 recent losses to those teams was the result. My point is only that those should have been 4 additional points in the standings for us. Neither game was unwinnable in my opinion, we just didn't play up to our potential.

Yes this is AA level and everybody has an opinion about this time of year about rookies hitting the wall, etc.....Every team deals with this but it doesn't change the fact that it is the coaches reponsibility to make sure their team plays to their potential every game.

I'm not throwing blame around, just voicing my opinion on a topic. And, yes, I am very excited about the year the K's are having so far and proud to call myself a Komet Fan.

Sounds as if someone is a little obsessed with another teams goalie.

Just ignore her and she will go away. Quit responding to her lunacy. She is just a Sterling groupe.

andy sherman
Sun, 01/08/2012 - 12:11pm

She was obsessed with Haun and now Sterling. I'm sure it's nothing more than her expressing her like or dislike. Very few of us actually KNOW any of these players, despite what we like to think.

Sun, 01/08/2012 - 12:14pm

And jerseygirl, you said if we don't like to hear you yell at Nick to not go to Dayton? You yell at him in the Fort too. It's annoying as heck to yell at a guy that has done a lot for the team...a team you are supposedly a fan of.

Jererygirl
Sun, 01/08/2012 - 2:06pm

I'm curious if I supposedly have such a personal grudge against Bouche then you all have such personal grudges against Larry or any other player the fans in FW love to taunt? I just think his ego far exceeds his talent and I don't understand the fans' and local media's need to make him seem like more than he is. I'd like to see how often Bouche could block 40+ shots per game. As for Haun, I was a fan of him and Larry at the same time and made no secret about it.
It's really strange how FW fans are allowed to voice their opinion during a game and that's all fine and good as long as its popular opinion. As soon as I find fault in a popular player I'm suddenly some sort of witch? Nope.....I just have a mind of my own and don't feel like I need to be quiet about it to make y'all happy. I've had several Komets fans privately tell me they agree with my assessment. Maybe it's people like the ones on the blog here who make them uncomfortable to publicly express their opinions.
Andy, I say if you don't want to hear me yell at Bouche then don't go to Dayton because on this thread the specific complaint was over something I did IN DAYTON.

Andrea
Sun, 01/08/2012 - 2:43pm

What "fault" do you find in Boucher? What has he done that would cause the reaction going to h during a timeout to let your opinion of him be heard? What reaction were you expecting to get from the Komets players and fans who saw and heard this? Did you expect them to agree with yo u? Were you expecting Chaulk, Smith, Henley, our any of them to look at you and say, "hey, you're right".

If you think Larry Sterling is the best goalie out there, great. I think you need to understand though, that when you consistently yell insults towards Boucher and at the same time say you are a Komets fan, others will react. I don't expect you to like it, but you have to expect it.

Andrea
Sun, 01/08/2012 - 2:45pm

That should say: What has he done that would cause the reaction of going to the bench during a timeout...

Sorry about that.

Zanderson84

Maybe it's that we have facts to back up our argument. Boucher is statistically the best goalie in the league this year, has won 3 championships, never missed the playoffs and has played through numerous injuries. Larry sterling is a notorious hothead that loses his cool and gives up easy goals because he loses focus. He has played for 4 different teams in 3 years and is currently the backup goalie for a team 7 games under .500. And as for Tim, there is a reason he didn't get resigned. Could have to do with a lack of class and a baseball swing. When he was here, he rode the pine behind Boucher in the playoffs, so the argument he won a championship is like saying Legault won a championship. Yeah he won, but he contributed 0 to the playoffs.

Yes, I can be very vocal about certain players and my dislikes for them. Currently I am very angry about Lovell on defense. But even though I sat right behind him last night, I didn't lean over the glass and yell that he sucks. If you truly support the team, you have to cheer for them regardless of who they have, even if it is a jay holliday or Brian boulay or whoever it is. You don't run over across your section to yell that he sucks to the bench or start a we want Tim chant at a friggin b dubs during a playoff game. It's childish.

I have to agree on both accounts. I do think Boucher has an ego problem, but he is good, and that happens to people. I think a lot of Fort Wayne fans worship him a bit too much. He does not suck, he is not bad...and if you aww a true fan you cheer for the team and they players. There are 2 players in this team I am not crazy about, but I don't spit venom towards them. I hate when the crowd boos the team when they lose. Everyone has a bad night sometimes. I used to be a huge Justin Chwedorek fan and I still like to watch him play but I would never root against my team because he is not in it any longer. Maybe you should just stick to being a Dayton fan. We could all be happy then.
